Basic trap question

If an enemy is killed by damage from my traps, will that proc ascendancy passives like the occultist's vile bastion, trickster's swift killer, etc?

Or does the killing blow need to be landed by me?

Also, poison's dot is based on phys/chaos damage done by the hit, how does that work if the pys damage of the hit is converted? e.g. I have phys to lightning support, base hit is 100 phys. So base hit inflicts 50 phys, 50 lightning. If that hit poisons, what is the poison dot based on? 100 phys for the pre-conversion it? 50 phys for the post conversion hit?

Traps, totems, and mines don't count as your kills, unless the enemy dies from damage over time.

So if my traps inflict poison/bleed, then those dots do count as mine? But the direct hit belongs to the trap, not me, so on hit effects give me nothing?

And one more, gladiator's outmatch and outlast, does dying to a dot not proc it at all, or does it proc it for the hand that applied the dot (so also no proc for trap applied dots), or does it do something else weird?

totems traps and mines use your hits but they are not you

in short, if your hits/kills have a chance to apply something to an enemy (poison, EE, curse, explosion on death etc), it will work just fine. But if your hits/kills have chance to grant something to you (charges, life, EO, etc) then it will not work

kills by DoTs are always credited to the player though (even from minion kills) due to ancient bug that (after so many years) became a feature
