armor + evasion 2handed melee hardcore build

Hi all, i think i found very nice defensive hardcore build.

Build based on idea use armor and evasion togheter and buff both as much as possible.

Introduction about my defenses:

Armor:
+ very good versus most physical mobs who hits you not very hard.

Try to keep 30-40% estimated reduction(look at tooltip in game) versus mobs you fights(you dont need more it works great versus most mobs, and very hard to get high reduction versus hard hitter)

Simple explanation:

Some mobs hits for 50(over 9000% of mobs) damage, some for 250 try to keep good reduction versus first only.

All it because reduction formula:
reduction = armour / (armour + 12*damage) more damage we take less reduction we have, and have huge reduction versus small hits

Evasion:
+ helps alot versus most hard hitters(evade most of their hits)
+ if we evade hit we evade all part of damage ( elemental damage , viper strike, puncture) no one likes to stack chaos dot or shock
+ arrow dodging keystone, we not suffer from 100 archers shots us, and can start map with nasty chaos damage snakes, alchemist and cloud from poison arrow easy to evade by moving)
+ have roll versus crit, full random, but we have it.( Buffs armor because armor formula)
+ we evade reflect

Try to keep 30-40% chance to evade (for arrow dodging properly work mostly, is easy to buff that chance)

Enfeeble buffs both:
Lower damage (more damage reduction because armor formula)
Lower crit chance (more armor buffs again)
Lower crit multilplier (buff armor and we have less chance or totaly ignore elemental statuses from spell crits)
Lower accuracy - evasion chance buff (1.5% lower accuracy per 1 quality)

Determination for armor and grace for evasion.

Flame totem with blind or permanently blind totem, i use for bosses and mobs who have immune for curses. (its very good without gmp or lmp)

Blind formula:

[Chance to hit while blinded] = 0.25 * [Chance to hit while not blinded]
[Chance to evade blinded enemy] = 1 - ( 0.25 * ( 1 - [Chance to evade not-blinded enemy] ) )

At least 75% chance to evade for free( acrobatics or full evasion users cry now)

After all buffs we have very good physical damage reduction and chance to evade.


Purity and elemental adaptation for max resists. from 75% max resists to 84%, from 25% damage to only 16% huge difference, we start to ignore elemental statuses.

decoy totem for charge mobs and indoors maps

I have enduring cry and use it rarely.

My flask important part of defense:

2 bubbling and 1 seething for fast healing back(i have passive skill alchemist 15% more life from flask and 30% faster flask recovery speed)

granite ofcourse

amethyst with immune to curses and more charges, i use it for two purposes(remove curses and be immune to it for some times before kill curse caster very important)

With that defensive set up i easy run through all content (exception vaal fights i dont risky for melee with him, i use bear traps)


Now do maps( max lvl 73, update guide when have higher lvl maps)

Biggest + from that defense: we never take burst damage from physical mobs, exception charging mobs(but its easy to evade it or use decoy totem)

Offense part of my build not important, you can chose what you like, but i prefer huge physical damage.

I use 2h axe with resolute technique, it grants me high phys damage per hit and i smash mobs armor.

I have 2% mana leech on gear and i can run frenzy and leap slam without any mana flask.

Frenzy with culling strike, faster attacks, melee phys damage for my single target.

Leap slam with faster attacks, fire damage(changed now for concentraded effect), melee phys damage. for aoe and great mobility.

current build:


for leveling i recomendate rush for arrow doding and taking all hp nodes on the way, big armor and evasion circle needs only for maps.
Try to get most possible hp before do merciless vall or do him in party.

add skill and stuff info pls.
add more explanations for armor and evasion and some formulas)
that guide planed only for explain how good armor and evasion can be, but i add soon more information about lvling and offensive.

Nice build, well done getting so high in hardcore with a true melee :)
Probably could get even more damage by taking axe nodes instead of two-hander nodes.

damage nodes dont give too much dps, sad

played some 73 maps armor and eva still works great, but without shield possible to die from deadly crit damage crit multiplier charging mobs(rhoas carcass most dangerous)

Any one else use armor + evasion and run 73+ hard maps? I realy wanted to see how it works, cant test it by myself, solo playing dont allow it, highest map droped to me is 71(i alch 67+ maps always), highest i play with friend 73.

And looking for coments from other armor + evasion users.
