Search for Multiple Text Strings (possible?)

does this forum not allow for boolean search? (or some equivalent)

I tried to see if this - in my mind rather fundamental question - hadn't already been asked & answered, but, ironically, found myself unable to search the forum efficiently ;-)

when I search for a term/text string I get way too many hits, and it only gets worse when I add additional terms/text strings - isn't there any way to narrow down the search results?
