History repeating

note: this post is about casual players, theyre needs and how do they play

So, i am a casual player since Abyss. I've discoverd this game and find it more challenging and interesting like no others.
I remember the odds when strugling trough Baldure's gate or D1 & 2. Founding new mechanics in Planescape torment or new worlds in EverQuest!

Back today, i also remember when GGG signed with Tencent! And I've asked myself "is this the begining of the end?".
I'll get my answer!

As long as GGG offer 4 or...let's say 8 new MTX or MicroTransaction a week, the game will be a BillPool!
Or...are you so deep in developpment that this game became a crowdfounding?

anyway...

Back to subject!

As casual player, I need to get fast to the map. I mean, without strugling with with beast and hard mid-boss. Because, when you're enough experienced, you know maps are the first goal to reach....to be a little bit rich! And the acts are boring after rerolling twice.
As casual player, my work, my family, my life aren't vs the game! I lived in the real world, using PoE and other games to calm down, enjoy and free my mind. I'm not realy interested of being the first to kill Meven or Sirus! I'm not the one who played one build until I reach lvl 100 (never done).

I'm just here to have fun and build a strong enough character to reach endgame without playing the same tier 10 maps for a month and enjoy my stenght with all the masters!

So, for me, the hardest the game will be, the most player you'll lost.

Stop tryin' to satisfy a part of your streamers community because 5 or 20 of them killin' bosses in a sec.!

You're not enough concerned by the largest part of your players! It's not a complain, it's a fact! This part died 10,50,100 times on Sirus, Meven or Guardians. This part strugling with masters mission and this HUGE endgame content! We are not prostreamers et we are not happy with huge nerfs to come.

This game is a must! A diamond in (A)RPG/H&S wolrd!
But if you're intersted by a shynier diamond represented by more money, this will brake the first!

(and all this won't be read by whom it may concerned & trash talked )

Looking at your profile, you are not (what I would call) a casual player.
~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

I'm not hyped by the new league, the nerfs will not affect top players as they expect, they will still destroy Sirus AL9 easily with their few mirrors builds but instead for other players a part of the end game will become unreachable, as most of them cannot afford 100 ex/items, so no idea where we will find the huge part of missing dps and no idea what's the point of these massive nerfs, it just destroy the rest of fun we can find in this game.
See you in the league :)

Most of these nerfs are just going to push the proplayers to new skills.
But they'll still trash end game content without breaking a sweat.

Meanwhile, the non-pro players who just play to chill at the end of a frustrating day at work are going to get a very heavy, very steel boot directly to the face. After being kicked a few times they'll go find some other game that can appease their desire to wield god-like powers and smash their way through foes or not loose hours or days of work because of one highly telegraphed super kill everything attack lost in the particle nightmare of screen spam.
Eventually frustration will simply turn them away, if they have not left already after seeing those ghastly nerfs to power while the end game content still has all of its buffed resistances, defenses, and life.

These players who have left, and will leave, far, far out number the proplayers who probably put little to nothing into the game unless rubes drooling at their stream do it for them.

Wallets matter more than proplayers.

In the future GGG needs to look at the top 10% and figure out how to curb *their* ability to do 20 million DPS, not the players who will never see 2 million.
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.
The way casual players act here.. This wont hurt them.. It will help them so get over yourselves.

1: Spamming 5 flasks constantly for defense and damage.. This was not for casuals.. They changed it to be casual Friendly with more limitations and auto triggers.

2: The Nerfs to pure damage skill gems. You can now do other gems rather than min/max potentially, i highly doubt a 20-40% dmg nerf will kill people in their White maps. The 40% is with a 6 link of all Pure Damage Gems.

I doubt end power is even reduced by 40% when you start using the other gems... Some cases for my builds it was a difference between doing 30million DPS with X gem Setup and 28 Million with X other gem Setup.

Nothing in these notes are a negative to a casual player.. Casual Player isn't min/maxing spamming 5 flasks while using a movement skill on cooldown hitting 2-3 other buttons.

This looks like its slowing the game down.. The League mechanic.. is slowing the game down.. Hey! Lets stop and place charges all over the place set them off and fight.. That's not zoom zoom.

This is just players wanted power levels to keep going up so they can run around the entire game like they are in Act 1 at level 30.

Yeah, i think is seems way worse than it will actually be.

Will these changes cause some players to quit? Sure it will.
Will these changes cause other players to return to the game? Maybe
Are the changes needed for the good of the GAME? Definitely!
Will whatever GGG ever does please all of their player base? Definitely not!

I do however also feel that the hand full (or bucket-full) of players that acquire their first mirrors in the first week, will still one-shot end-game bosses and be zoom zoom.

I am (as a slightly higher tier casual player), quite nervous about the 3.15, but we shall prevail, maybe just a little slower than before, with more random one-shots here and there.
