Very frequent crashing since before and after the recent patch.

The crashes happen at all sorts of different triggers and there are multiple error messages. Typical crash trigger have been hitting the 'craft' button in Harvest, rendering betrayal mobs and structures, leaving or entering a zone, and the most frequent being during Ultimatums. I have tried everything I can think of. I have triple checked all my drivers and updated my OS. I reinstalled the game multiple times, I have tried low resolution, overclocking, underclocking, fullscreen/windowed. My system is mostly pretty new and while not top of the line certainly not bad so I am surprised this is happening so frequently. Any help or pointers are greatly appreciated.

Clear your client's cache
If any cached client data has become corrupted it could also cause a variety of problems, from visual anomalies to crashes.

To clear your client's cache, open the Options Menu, select UI, select Clear Cache, then Accept.

The 'Clear Cache' button will clear out several temporary storage locations that Path of Exile uses for things like downloaded images and graphics shaders. After clearing cached shaders your client performance will be temporarily degraded while the client regenerates the shaders it needs. For this reason we recommend only using 'Clear Cache' as a last resort when troubleshooting a crash or other graphical problem, or if the size of the caches has become a problem.

Clear your client's config files.
It is possible some non-default setting is causing your problem. Removing the client config files will restore default settings. The config files are located in the below locations:

PC (all types): %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile

Now run the packcheck.exe file as "an administrator".

Also are you running programs like MSI afterbuner or nVidia Experiance, then close these before starting PoE (try closing ALL programs before running PoE).

I don't have a packcheck.exe file in documents/mygames/pathofexile or in steam/steamapps/common/pathofexile. I have done the other steps already to no avail.

in steam it's called something like "verify files" and it's a steam option.

as much as its ggg's fault for the poor state of this game currently, i do think the issue you're facing is just you.

might wanna run prime95 and furmark to see if they come out stable. just noticed you mentioned underclocking so you must have considered your system stability.

also, this game tends to crash if you have little free memory. keep that in mind.
