Hungry loop does not consume if corrupted white socket

I play a necromancer with unnatural strength, hence gem-level +2.

After having levelled a "raise zombie" to 19 "ready for leveling to 20" I socketed this gem into the corrupted hungry loop and leveled via "+" in the inventory. NO EFFECT!

I assume it has something to do with the corrupted state of the ring (still having this 1 white socket). Therefore I will try again - the same procedure, but this time with an ordinary hungry loop with blue socket.

not a bug, the ring is corrupted and cannot be modified. consuming gems would be modifying it.
I see your logic.

Request: Since even corrupted items can be modified in various senses, wouldn't it be gamer-friendly to remove the "ring can be modified with consuming" hint on the ring itself, if it was corrupted?

IMHO this outweighs the frustration of having leveled for some hours then using a misleading ring.
