[3.13 Ritual] Ice Crash 80/80 Block Gladiator

3.14 Update:
The Seismic Cry and chainbreaker nerf hurts our dps. we lost about 32% of our damage if we remove rage and berserk from our build.
It's a lot harder to keep up rage now, costing 13 rage PER ATTACK instead of approximately 15-20 rage per second. (See "Chainbreaker Mechanics" for more info.)

WARNING: This is more of a showcase rather than guide. Outside of 3.13, this build will be very expensive to put together for both to buying and crafting the gear.

Have mediocre mechanics and want to improve? Want your mistakes feel less punishing and take on end game bosses? Maybe try this build out.

Pros/Cons:

Pros:
- Tanky with max block, berserk, fortify, and immortal call.
- Can start on a somewhat of a budget
- Scales very well with investment
- Good bosskiller
- Forgiving Playstyle
- One-tap mobs while mapping
- No explodey chest required (shatter porcupines with freeze)
- Freeze map bosses

Cons:
- Slow mapper
- Slow attack speed
- Can face tank a lot of boss mechanics but not all
- Can get very expensive

Chainbreaker Mechanics

What is Chainbreaker?
3.14 nerfed not only the divergent variant but all the attack variant as well.
Keeping up your rage will be a lot harder now.

Some Numbers:
Regen 3 rage per second. Mana Regen gets applied to Rage instead. Lose 3 rage * mana cost multiplier per attack.

Lose rate:
3 rage per attack * 3.91 mana cost multiplier = 12 rage every attack
12 rage per attack * 2.5 attacks per second = lose 30 rage per second~

To break even with our rage loss:
Losing 30 rage per second / Regenerate 3 rage per second = 1000% increased mana regen rate per second
36/3 = 1200% increased mana regen per second
48/3 = 1530% increased mana regen per second

Chainbreaker makes it so that we regenerate 3 rage per second at the cost of losing 5 rage whenever we hit an enemy no more than once every 0.3 seconds. Our mana regeneration rate gets applied to rage instead of our mana.

By investing in a some mana regen rates in our gear and potentially our passive tree, we can get enough mana regen to out regen the loss of rage when we map.

Some numbers:
Lose about 10 rage every second at 2 attacks per second
Lose about 15 rage per second at 3 attacks per second

With Berserk, we lose another 5 rage per second that increases by 20% every second.

To break even with our rage loss:
Losing 10 rage per second / Regenerate 3 rage per second = 333% increased mana regen rate per second
15/3 = 500% increased mana regen per second
20/3 = 666% increased mana regen per second

The build in the showcase video has 269% increased mana regeneration. Apply that to our base 3 rage regen and we are regenerating 8 rage per second.

How to scale damage:

Since Ice Crash has 280% effectiveness of added damage, any flat damage to attacks we get gets multiplied by 2.8 times by Ice Crash.

In your gear and jewels try to:
- Stack flat phys and cold damage to attacks
- Stack as much phys damage gained as extra cold mods in your gear.
- Increased aura effect for Hatred
- Scale melee/cold/global crit strike chance and multi
- Stack flat added crit strike chance to attacks (assassin's mark, hunter chest, bottled faith)
- Find cold penetration (eg. exposure, curse, etc.)

How to build defensively:

Our armour isn't high and our phys damage mitigation isn't all that great either and if you don't have a lot of chaos resistance, you'll be dying a lot to phys and chaos damage.

What we do to get around that is to:
- Stack life
- Stack chaos resistance
- Shift phys damage to another damage type (in this build, about 25% of phys damage is shifted to fire which is then mitigated by our fire resistance)
- Stack block and max block
- (Optional)Stack fortify effect (from tree, lethal pride, helmet)

For defense against elemental damage, you can stack maximum elemental resistances.

Other ways to help reduce the damage we use Berserk as much as we can and always be hitting to keep our fortify buff up.

Hi,
looks very interesting, how do you level it?

My go to skill is ground slam but you can go with any melee skill you want. pick up the lycosidae at level 11 and use the physical damage vendor recipe to upgrade your weapon during the acts. I believe it's a whetstone + weapon + rare rustic sash
