Evasion Fencer - rate my build!
I'm quite new to PoE and upon seeing the character archetypes was immediately drawn to the duelist. After dabbling a bit with some under lvl 30 dual wield builds I decided to bring him back to his roots. Is it possible to make a viable fencing build that uses a rapier and an armguard shield?
In the build I made I went for iron reflexes, evasion, all sword spec nodes, and most of the health nearby. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAQQBAgbnPALjAx0G5smBCz7rgAuCpKYNURS7DvSWERAsBhMRC4HVEmDtUhRS-QgpbOu_LC7Rhy7qTF4v8f3vM4FEtjQ-v1I0QQZ4NN9LPDbg-NA3lwhEOhzTYzvFZSg_pH65RMYy6UhZ_PNb2TY4YYpqKGJNbwhjz7i0ZKZQtGWlMhFu3Pybb_NFF3C8oL5xhCkcf0zSBNfMo_mNqRj_9YnDzbL3UEez9dY3iSoc2_5ox9qvLwB0zFGHu5577fSmuuOiqI3Rw53CjJf4-yDImKraf96gr02JG-3cjqcuouWDW3TmgR7WosKK99lhEXXH07rM4vl1vr6DfOG0KCn6tNY748oWDmeDvrOsoG-Vk-_wJmfjo2e_yCP0YMCIksnrmO9M |

" Not enough damage imo. But I'm sure you'll have fun with your build; you just won't be killing very fast in merc. |

Thanks for the feedback! What passives would increase my dps?

You have plenty of damage to easily make it through Merciless, you're sword and board it's expected to kill a little slower. Chaos is where you'll slow down a bit.
Why did you take Iron Reflexes? You have enough Str that with a little extra from gear you could equip the highest level Str gear. Taking Iron Reflexes is a complete waste of 4 points. Now, with that in mind ALL those points you took to the right of the Duelist ending at with Life nodes next to the Ranger.. They're wasted as well. If you don't take Iron Reflexes and equip Str gear instead.. all that Evasion is useless. If the Evasion nodes are not needed then you're better off taking the Life nodes plus the much needed Life Regen on the opposite side of the Duelist start and the Armor nodes to the south. Here is my recommendation to make your build a little more sturdy. Don't worry about the loss in Dex, you'll have plenty of Accuracy from passives and swords. You lose a little bit in terms of defense from the Evasion -> Armor conversion, but you gained more Life and Damage and very, very useful Life Regen for melee builds. |
