Unprecedented: GGG should not delete player items.

From the 3.11.2b patch notes:
- Harvest characters will soon be migrated to their respective parent leagues. The Sacred Grove and its contents have been removed. Harvest Infrastructure and Seeds outside of The Sacred Grove will be removed at a later date.

Again, why are these getting removed at all from people's stashes, full stop? It's clear this is problematic on the back end and yet GGG refuses to be transparent here. One could also draw the conclusion: Harvest, in any form, will never be returning to the game.

Yet another unpaid Path of Exile 2 Alpha Tester.
They're not deleting items.

The things you're talking about were not items.

They were ephemeral realizations of an eldritch entity attempting to breach into our plane of existence.
IGN : Reamus
I don't know about anyone else, but I could have really used some sort of in-game notification that this was going to happen so that all of my hard-worked-and-won stored Harvest crafts could be either ignored or used before they all disappeared.

That represented dozens of hours of work that just went *poof* into the aether because...why, exactly? These things could have been removed as characters got migrated into Standard, rather than right now.

Got to say, I feel pretty pissed and cheated. Harvest League was my first time back after years, and I loved it. Not sure if I'll bother with the next league if this is GGG's MO.
GG never explicitly state that stuff in our inventory(regular and seed) was going to go *poof* so I feel a bit betrayed.
I'm pretty sure they've deleted stuff before. I think there was a dupe bug and they deleted those items.

How!? Betrayed by what? Every byte of code in this game belongs to them. And it is perpetually under their oversight and control.

Yeah, that's true. So if they decided to delete all of your characters and stash items on a whim at some point, you wouldn't feel at all that your trust in the company's actions was betrayed. Hmm?

Look, "betrayed" is a bit strong, but it's certainly poor form. Do they own the game content? Sure. But there's a certain assumption as a player that the stuff we've put work into won't just disappear on a whim, and it's a reasonable assumption. Without that assumption, it becomes much less enticing to develop a character, equipment, etc. over such a long period as this game tends to involve.

Can't argue with that, although don't be surprised when you begin to see even veteran players start to leave when they realize how little power or say we truly have in this game. And have been shown time and time again with these league content removals whenever something becomes too difficult to implement into the core game. Temporary leagues used to mean an economy reset, not a content reset.

Where people who play the new content from leagues are treated as beta testers for Standard. And all the time players spent on learning the new league, achieving items, grinding, enjoy the new league and wanting it go core, doesn't matter to the devs apparently because now even the items themselves will be deleted, so why even make a league that would cause something like this in the first place, or can they not plan ahead accordingly?

I mean seriously, what is hard to understand here with people being frustrated about this? World of Warcraft, Runescape, other online games with even less budgets don't do this to their own players. I expected more from GGG honestly, but maybe there's a good reason for all of this, I just hope it was not out of lazyism or personal choice of not liking Harvest internally in the office.

If people leave because of 'how little control they have' in this game. Where exactly are they going to go where the situation is going to be any different? If you owned a game you wouldn't let anyone else tell you that you couldn't do something that you felt had to be done. Same with every game company. Nothing strange going on here.

There are tons of games to go elsewhere that give WAY MORE agency and player freedom and choice than this. Even Call of Duty Black Ops 3 has mod tools players can use to make whatever map they want, with whatever assets they want to play custom games with friends on zombies or multiplayer and that's just one example. Arma 2 and 3 have this functionality too and are highly popular in the modding community that make their own spin-off on the games like DayZ. Runescape has daily forum questionnaires where they ask by vote on what the community wants to be done in the game. World of Warcraft keeps content even if it becomes obsolete to not disrespect the veteran players who partook in that content even though not everyone plays it now out of respect and principle. On top of all this, no other game in my history of gaming have I seen cut this much content out of the game, Synthesis removed almost completely, Cut-Throat gone, other leagues and now even Harvest being removed. It just becomes too wasteful at some point.

I think some players here have been conditioned to this type of treatment over time. Where the player's time is not valued and at the end of a league, the devs just tell you that the new content you enjoyed is not going core if they feel like it or change their minds, rather than making it work. This is very unstable behavior and not very healthy from a dev to player relationship standpoint.

No... Not even close. Blanket statement and every game company has a lot of differences and for the most part, more transparent and gives more player agency than this. I outlined how earlier.

On the contrary, this is VERY strange, otherwise, people wouldn't be pointing it out. I can't change your mind obviously, but others do feel betrayed by this, otherwise, they would not be voicing their concerns in regards to this, not only on the official forums, but on Reddit, PoE's YouTube comments and other mediums, and have every reason to be upset.

I myself still wish the best for this game, but won't be returning any time soon until certain things are either fixed or addressed. Call it entitled, but that's just how I view it, and there are plenty of other games out there to enjoy.

i'm hugely disappointed by their decicion to delete my harvest achievements. especially since i couldn't access them after the announcement.

what frightens me is the expectation they grew in the playerbase to craft mirror worthy items.
losing those players when nerfing crafting again will also make them lose normal players cause of the fuss those influential reddit filter bubble agitators have.

nerf reddit too :)
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
