I Deserved That....

No epic stories here, just drinking beer and running lab. Was too inebriated to step out of the way of an Izaro slash...

Made me think though, what's your favorite face-palm way to die?


As a public service let me get the "forgot to check the map for reflect" out of the way.

Arachnid Tomb, 97% of the way towards level 95

Map mods totally benign. Some shocking ground, turbo onslaught monsters, bloodlines mod.

Did my Jun missions, killed the boss. Was picking stuff up off the ground in the boss arena, when I just up and died. WTF?

No corpses, dots, or anything else. Just me and my chaosgolem

Turns out I had ONE FOOT standing over one of the bonfires in the boss arena (which unlike nearly any other fire pit decoration item, these in this one map actually do burning damage)

....and the OTHER FOOT touching some shocking ground.

And this is how exactly we discovered that Arachnid Tomb firepits deal burning damage, when legit NO OTHER decorative firepits in the game deal any damage at all.

Also in b4 "blood rage in a no-regen map", been there dumb that.

oh, i think they do.

and i still remember having posted a complaint to chris about it in closed beta whe devs were still regularily playing the game on the main realm.

This league? Well, one definitely was not triggering two vortex balls at the corner of the Shaper arena in time before the bullet hell phase.

The other was opening the first Heart of the Grove accidentally while coming from a map with Vulnerability and 100% extra lightning damage. That was fun...

Another thing I can't seem to learn is not to do make metamorphs really deadly on occasion.

Dying due to having my weapon swap weapons equipped (white unlinked lvl3 swords as opposed to my functional lvl60+ unique daggers).

Rushing back into a boss fight having forgotten to re-toggle my auras.

You know later at night, you start a zana t16 juiced guardian map and just as you enter the map the most ungodly powerful drowsiness wraps its tentacles around you and you can't really alt f4 go to sleep because it's juiced, you know?

And you kind of plow like an automaton through the delirium mirror and the tane monsters and the breaches and you die like a half-asleep idiot after dashing in the middle of 1000 mobs exactly when your eyes are closing and all you do is cast a wave of conviction like

Being greedy and starting harvest fight with bunch of t2s t3s mobs in a difficult map with only 4 portals.

Along theses lines every time I find a gear upgrade I get excited, craft it, socket it, link it, and put it on. Then immediately run back into what I was doing, where somehow I'm once again surprised to find out my skill bindings are changed and I have no damage skills. This is particularly exciting when delving....

This doesn't always kill me, but when it does I face-palm hard and say "I deserved that."

Then I remembered whats Artists wanted to force their alvays-bloom-On vision and closed the game immediately. Let em play it emselves..
