League starter builds are pointless after a week
I only play 1 or at most 2 characters per league. I don't like leveling so I try to find a starter build that can go all the way to end with more investment. I usually look for something that says SSF friendly so I know it doesn't require super expensive or hard to find items to work while also end game capable.
It can be hard though to find the right thing. A lot of time starter builds do lose steam on high end maps and because as a starter they are easy to gear they don't always scale up well especially if you don't understand the game/class enough to know how to adjust the gear yourself (I really struggle if the build doesn't explain path for upgrading). I've never had any totally not work on red maps but some of them have struggled. |

If your starter build can't clear the endgame you should just git gud instead
So all you really end up having is playing the economy, and plowing maps. And if you want to get anywhere on your character, you are better off mowing monsters down like weeds and just collecting pennies of the ground as fast as possible than any meaningful item hunting.

" basically this. Start with something cheap to stabilize and start earning currency, then go buy a better build for endgame content. Or start with something that has endgame potential and struggle because clearspeed and single target seem to be increasingly mutually exclusive [19:36]#Mirror_stacking_clown: try smoke ganja every day for 10 years and do memory game

" --- Struggle is a relative term. There are plenty of ways of making currency that are easy. I suspect any of the streamers can clear up to at least white maps with all blue gear if they needed to. Any semi-competent player can take any build and start making bank to upgrade. Any build. Will it take a bit longer than a starter? Yes, but it doesn't matter much. Now if your idea of making currency is running Shaper etc. then yes, you will likely have to do it in stages. And as I have been saying in other threads, this is a crafting league not a loot explosion one. It is going to be way more difficult to get that 40 ex to fund the 2nd build than it was in Delirium (unless you know what you are doing crafting - which few do). It is likely IMO that most players will be better off just starting with the build they want to push with and gradually gearing it with the league mechanic or trading. Of course the 1% is the exception because they can get to red maps in 1-2 days. Last edited by MrWonderful99#4612 on Jun 16, 2020, 8:48:17 PM
