New Support Gem: "Channel" - Cursed Auras
|
The problem with Auras is that they are boring. This is an action RPG -- we should discourage passive buffs/debuffs. Aura Builds and Summoners are passive enough without this. Last edited by generalmx#7853 on Mar 22, 2013, 7:00:48 PM

discourage passives?
the entire skill tree is passive! |

The thing is, all you have to do is nerf the AOE.
If you nerf the AOE, then "curse auras" will be almost a direct buff to melee players. IGN: TsuruyaNyro

"All the more reason to discourage passive bonuses in "active" skills. I'm against this because of of two things: * If it lets you apply more curses simultaneously than your normally could, it's broken. * If it applies just one curse, you need to ask: "If you're supporting multiple curse-auras simultaneously, which one curse does the monster get?" It doesn't really matter what the answer to that question is; you could come up with some obscure way of figuring it out, but it would be adding (another?) extremely counter-intuitive, arbitrary mechanic to the game. If you don't think it would be broken, well, maybe it's not so bad for two auras at once; there is a keystone that lets you get +1 curse, plus a lot of unique equipment. But getting the benefits of all those uniques, plus the benefit of the keystone, and then maybe even more, for the cost of a support gem, and with free automatic casting... no. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
