Failed to init FMOD system. Error code 51. - Very Frustrating
I brought my desktop downstairs to play near my TV. I realized I had sound via my Monitor and my Graphics Card output so when in game I selected my Graphics card output. I needed to bring my computer back upstairs today so without changing the sound device back in PoE I turned the game and then the computer off and brought it upstairs. Now when I'm upstairs I get the error "Failed to init FMOD system. Error code 51.".
After Googeling a little bit I found that it something to do with the sound device which made sense based on when I changed the sound device. After I tested a few things, the game only worked after I disabled all the devices, re-enabled my "Speakers (Sound Blaser Recon3Di) and then saved the settings. Unfortunately, whenever I quit the game and try to start it back up I get the same error unless I disable my speakers again. I tried deleting the device within the PoE Config in the My Documents folder. I tried updating my Sound Drivers. These two things didn't work. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING. I just finished a 12 hour shift and I just want to know that this works right. I'm probably going to have to re-install this game and it still won't work. I'm guessing I won't get a response until tomorrow - I'm pissed honestly. This shouldn't still be an issue. I'll probably end up bringing my computer back downstairs but I have a feeling that won't fix it either. Please help. Last bumped on Jan 12, 2020, 10:42:58 AM

Just to let you know, I did in-fact bring my computer downstairs again after I learned of this issue. I plugged it back into the same monitor I was using previously. I launched PoE and this time the Default Sound Device was the ASUS Monitor that I was using downstairs (even though I changed it within the config file).
I changed the Audio Device within PoE to the regular Speakers (Sound Blaster Recon3Di) and then exited. Turned PoE back on to see if it stayed and it did. Powered off the computer, brought it back upstairs and turned it on. Then logged into PoE with no problems. Seems like you guys may need to make sure that PoE doesn't try and recognize devices that are no longer active in the computer. While the main Device that it was using was the NVIDIA High Definition Audio device, it was recognizing the ASUS monitor specifically instead of just the general NVIDIA Device. |
