Carrion Golem + Pulverise support gem? Do they work together?

You can support Summon Carrion Golem with Pulverize -- skills that summon minions can be supported by gems that apply to either the skill itself or the skills the minions use. However, Pulverize only applies its bonuses to the golem's area attack, which is on a cooldown. The less attack speed modifier, however, will apply to all the golem's attacks, so the question is whether boosting the big hit is worth the penalty to the smaller ones. In my opinion, between Melee Physical Damage Support, Ruthless, Brutality, Minion Damage, and either Minion Speed or the behavior modifier gem of your choice, there are enough supports for your minions without having to make a tradeoff between damage and speed.

But .. doesnt the golem have only area attacks? His spikes cover an aoe, his leap slam is an aoe attack and his "default" swipes cover an aoe aswell.
