Question to POE 4.0 graphics.

Dear GGG,

first off congrats to your first convention, I enjoyed to follow every second of it.

Back to topic....as we know with POE 4.0 you can play the campaign of POE 1 & 2.

Ofc the POE 2 campaign map design looks graphicaly way better than the POE 1 campaign map design.

My question: Will you upgrade the graphics of the POE 1 campaign areas as well with the new engine or will POE 1 stay graphicaly as it is?

And all the old Atlas maps (Port, BEach, Jungle, Pen, etc...)....will they have the old graphics or will you upgrade all endgame map areas with the new engine?

Simply asked....will you graphicaly upgrade all the content of POE 1 with the new enigne/graphics?

Thanks in advance for a answere. :)

Most of the outdated graphics in PoE1 are props and characters/monsters. Especially in the first 3 acts. Not something I think would ever change. Makes no sense to spend time on it anyway.

But when it comes to small things like lighting, grass tech, water. Thats more easily replaced.

As for maps, they will probably focus on adding the new stuff. And remove the stuff that looks too dated. I guess?

You're not likely to get a GGG answer here, as they've provided a ton of info already in the ExileCon content. But...

I saw several places where they showed how the continually improving tech is being re-applied to older areas. I specifically remember seeing some Lioneye's Watch updates that showed some adjustments that highlight the new lighting, texturing, etc.

In general, though, there will only be one rendering engine, so the entire game, including both campaigns and all maps, will be using the same updated tech.

I imagine they will spend a lot of time ensuring that the existing areas get new tech-love wherever they can, similar to how the Twilight Strand was greatly improved when they came out with their new water-rendering tech a while ago.

Lets hope so....I think POE 1 campaign with the new engine of POE 2 would be again a new experiance. :)

So at the end of the day we get 2 new campaigns with POE 4.0...more or less.
They already said that they dont going to abandon the old PoE Storyline.

They are planing to updating the old Storyline in the time that leads to PoE 2.

In fact we will see first improvement to the old Storyline in 3.9 with a new Act 1 Town:

That they won't abond the old storyline was clear to me.

Just asked myself if they will upgrade the old storyline with the new engine/graphic.

Also would be interesting if we would get all the new characters with the new animations, armor/weapon transmogs, etc...in POE 1 too or will the character animations look different in POE 1 & 2?

You will have the new Charactermodels, Armors, Weapons and the new Animations even if you choose to play the old Storyline.

And most of the stuff will be in the game before PoE 2 is out, atleast they try to get everything in as soon as possible.

It will also be the same client.

Btw the new Charactermodels and Animations even effect the balance of the game a tiny little bit because they also redoing swing arcs of attacks like Heavy Strike for a better cleave effect, and that would be something that wouldnt work if you could still play with the old charactermodels and the animations.
