New Graphics Card but worse performance? please help
are you running the game on a SSD ?
If not, you should properly try getting that and maybe do a fresh windows'10 installation (make sure the correct chipset driver is installed). |

So I don't own an SSD. But I reinstalled Windows to make sure everything windows related is g2g. Then I ran the connectivity test which I will paste. Unfortunately, I do not know what it means or how to tell if I have a good connection or not.
ae6 which i separated appears to have loss% pretty high. But again, i don't know what that means or if it matters or how to fix it... |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.0.1 - 0 | 171 | 171 | 4 | 9 | 21 | 10 | | 10.6.200.1 - 2 | 163 | 161 | 7 | 10 | 37 | 8 | | 100.118.110.130 - 1 | 167 | 166 | 8 | 11 | 36 | 11 | | 100.121.20.46 - 0 | 171 | 171 | 7 | 11 | 51 | 12 | |ashbbprj01-ae2.rd.as.cox.net - 1 | 167 | 166 | 8 | 12 | 54 | 9 |xe-925.bbr02.eq01.wdc02.network 0 | 171 | 171 | 8 | 11 | 37 | 10 | |ae6.cbs01.eq01.wdc02.network 51 | 57 | 28 | 9 | 12 | 38 | 11 | |b9.10.35a9.ip4.static.sl-reve 1 | 167 | 166 | 9 | 12 | 46 | 10 | |xe-1025.bbr01.eq01.wdc02.network 2 | 163 | 161 | 9 | 11 | 39 | 11 |14.e6.559e.ip4.static.sl-reve 0 | 171 | 171 | 7 | 10 | 39 | 29 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider |

" Doesn't look that bad. What is bad however, is that you don't have an SSD. A fresh windows install won't change anything since a regular 7.2k rpm mechanical drive is just not cutting it. Every demanding game can be cranked up to a point where a bottleneck will start holding back the performance. A bottleneck is basically your weakest link in your PC setup, in PoE's case - If you have a decent gpu, cpu, and enough ram, it's going to be your HDD that will get beaten up because it won't be able to load and reload assets as quickly as your CPU can call for them, and GPU draw them, at which point it won't really matter if everything else is powerful enough. When it comes to decent hardware and PoE, your single biggest performance boost will be a solid state drive. No rest for the wicked.

Thanks for the response and input. I am due for some more HD space anyway although I really hate the prices of SSD's haha. Guess i'll have to give in and get one soon.
Really appreciate the input and with that, I think I am done troubleshooting. Whenever I can manage to swing an SSD (wife is already pissed about the RTX 2070 super upgrade haha) I'll try to remember to respond to this thread if it fixes the issue. In the mean time, thanks to all who responded. |

Update: Purchased a small SSD and installed POE on it. almost all lag goes away away now. I still get those odd server lags where my character cannot hit any enemies while the server corrects, but those are very rare.
So for anyone else reading this thread. You should get a small SSD before you buy a new graphics card or CPU. For this game, having an SSD seems to be make or break thing. Got a 200 gig SSD (Kindgston) from amazon for about $40. Gee wiz info: The 2070 Super is pretty beast... |
