Timeout while downloading patch files.
Been trying to download the patch for over 2 hours now. It began with the usual torrent download. The first surprise was that it still had to download almost 4gb of data after already downloading the torrent.
Download started and then stopped about 8% finished. From that moment on it couldn't manage to get any more data from the server. Restarted the client multiple times, also restarted computer once, all without a change. I checked the client log and found several lines where it stated which files could not be downloaded due to a timeout e.g. patchcdn.pathofexile.com/3.8.0.1/Data/Spanish/MapDevices.dat64 The funny thing is .. when I use a linux cmd line and do wget patchcdn.pathofexile.com/3.8.0.1/Data/Spanish/MapDevices.dat64 it downloads the file immediately, no problem at all. When I put that same link into the browser on windows .. timeout! No response. Steam is unable to start the download either. What's going on?? Last bumped on Sep 7, 2019, 6:22:33 AM

Technical Support is hiding, no replies to anyone since almost 1,5 hours ago.

Similar problem here. First I tried to patch without the torrent and actually made it to 1.6GB until the patcher froze. Waited for 15min until I tried to restart and droped back to 0%.
Next, I tried to install via torrent, but this also gets stuck at 0%. Not sure what's going on. However, based on the number of complaints I assume it's not just about my computer. |

We finally got a workaround.. well .. working.
So we did a fresh install of PoE via steam, at first this failed to download, too, but suddenly began installing. We then moved the content.ggpk file to our normal install path. On one computer it then started to download another 85mb of data immediately. After that final download the game finally launched. On our second computer it did not work, it still failed to download those last 85mb of data. I identified which files those 85mb were (the executables and a license file within the redist folder) and moved them over from the other computer. Then it would finally start on the second one. This patch the installation is messy af. |

(incoming moderation / another probation...)
This is the kind of stuff we have to deal with as the devs doesn't fix their issues. Nobody knows where the money goes but it ain't to problem-fixing. I had to do this very same thing last month as I was trying to install PoE first time since I was on a years break. Standalone installer doesn't work, had to use Steam to download files and mix-match files from Standalone to get game to run properly. Seems like I'm gonna have to do this procedure every time GGG releases a larger patch *sigh* I was waiting for almost a week for support on this issue, ended up with me having to work around the problem myself, and now it's back and still no support on the matter. edit: All I got in response was a possible Firewall issue, thing is, it never was... I was just playing PoE a few hours ago before the servers went down for restart, and now this. Last edited by PunkBuzter#1041 on Sep 6, 2019, 7:05:53 PM

Thanks for the advice. I also tried a fresh installation of POE but that didn't solve the problem.
Going to bed now. I guess this league start is ruined, which is a bit unfortunate. Hope this will be fixed tomorrow morning. |

" This is a sad day for PoE-fans all over the globe... Next "League" should be a big fat optimization/bugfixing expansion imho! |

Solved. Here's a quick write up, before I finally dive right into blight league.
This morning nothing had changed. Still stuck at 0%. I brought myself to finally install POE via steam, but that didn't help either. Steam did not start a download. Looking again at yesterday's replies I noticed that PunkBuzter mentioned a potential conflict with the firewall. I had been running POE on this computer for multiple years without any conflicts, so I couldn't see how the firewall would all of a sudden be a problem, but getting desperate, I still wanted to give it a try. I explicitly added exemptions for PathOfExile.exe and PathOfExile_x64.exe to the firewall. After a restarting the computer the download finally finished within a few minutes. Not sure if this was the only reason, as I had already: - downloaded the new content.ggpk via torrent - run packcheck.exe, which fixed a bunch of sync problems I hope this helps some of you. Happy grinding and glhf in the new league! |
