Wiki
Any chance of a POV wiki being set up on this site? I understand POV is still in development but i believe that that shouldn't stop one being made now.
It would make it easier for new site visiters to search for known information (probable reducing redundent threads)as i suspect that they would go straight to a wiki tag after the about and FAQ tags if one's in the menu. It also provided's a great way for more established fans to make an active contribution (never a bad thing for building a comunity). I wouldn't be here but I was out voted 3 to 1 by the other personalities. Last bumped on Nov 4, 2011, 6:59:01 PM

I don't know if a wiki on this site should be set up. This is the official site with information from the developers. The developers might not want all the information that 'is out there' to be available on the official site in the wiki.
An example: Blizzard does not want information about the Hellfire expansion on their official site, but on diablowiki.net you can find all the information. So if we want a wiki, we should make one. We could make one on wikia.com for example. We could claim pathofexile.wikia.com. |

" That's probably the best idea. Also I'm sure you guys would much rather we put all our manpower into delivering the game rather than administrating the wiki. Having said that, we're happy to make sure the information is correct for you, if anything is uncertain (or has changed in development) Lead Developer. It would simply be awesome if PoE allowed access to an assumed future wiki from inside the game.
Wikis contain a ton of necessary information about crafting, leveling, skill combos, items, abilities, drop percentages, monsters, etc. A lot of people tend to play these sorts of games with the game on one screen and the wiki on the other so they can review all this information as they play. I do it all the time. It's not a very good solution though because you need to keep switching back and forth. If there was an interface that allowed access to the wiki from inside the game (probably in some condensed form) then that would be simply revolutionary. You need to be connected online to play the game anyway so it's not like internet access would be an issue. Wikis use only basic html for formatting so coding some sort of automated converter shouldn't be overly difficult. A simple css file could easily change all the styles you needed to fit the game theme. Most importantly this would be hugely useful. I don't know why no one has ever done it before. Since there isn't a wiki yet you could work on the ability to access the forums from inside the game. Forums aren't that complex that you couldn't recreate their basic functionality. It may not be as useful as the wiki but it would still be fun to be able to browse the forums between raids without having to leave the game at all. Players could immediately make a post about something they just did or a bug they just found. Speaking of bugs. At least for the beta there should absolutely be some way to report bugs directly to GGG from within the game. This would definitely include a text description from the player and whatever technical behind-the-scenes gamestate information the devs felt useful. The player could choose to include a screenshot of the current screen (taken and attached automatically) and/or their basic system specifications (hardware, operating system, etc). This ability would greatly increase the quality and quantity of feedback and bug reports (and therefore make the beta a whole lot more useful to GGG) rather than having to post everything on the forum afterward. ------------------- Speaking of bugs and on a side note. I searched for this thread then made this post then tried to edit it and got this error: "The resource you are looking for does not exist or has been been removed." Of course going back through the normal forum allowed me to edit it just fine. Forum Sheriff

" They did it with Dungeons & Dragons Online, you can access the game store, forums, compendium(like a wiki) and your game account from in-game in a smaller window. It's pretty useful if you want to check up on some classes or spells, adventure packs etc. It may have had the ability to browse to any site but I never used it for that so I can't remember. |

I think this would be an awesome idea. Lots of people use wiki for other type of mmo/rpg games.
Have you developers thought anymore about this suggestion? |

There is currently a wiki in progress with the information that we have. It's a little behind currently (the hosting server went down for about a month and since then things have been fairly busy for me and I assume the other editors as well). Hopefully, with the upcoming release of v0.8 of PoE and the increase in alpha testers we'll be able to really flesh out some of the information.
You can check out the wiki here: http://pathofexile.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page Forum Sheriff

I'm with Chris here, Wiki's are the community's job, and that's why they are so awesome/lacking depending on the community.
