What is an alpha member?

Just curious is to what an alpha member is and can I have a beta key plz :)))))

Alpha members are testers on the alpha realm. Patches go to alpha first for initial testing to find the major flaws that would cause too many issues in beta, like constant crashes or features that just don't work at all. GGG hand-picks alpha testers from the beta testers.
