shield charge help

not sure if its a bug or ive forgot which button goes with it to lock it on but shield charge is just running straight past mobs instead of hitting one of them ?

I cannot speak directly to the shield charge mechanic on a controller. But my own big fault regarding aim is that I seem locked into aiming my head at stuff instead of my feet. I mention it just in case it might apply to your situation.
