Constant emails for password reset
I know this isn't exactly an easily solved issue but i'm just wondering if i'm in any danger given that i'm using the steam version of the game? Don't want my poe account stolen xD.

you would have started playing PoE on the stand-alone yes? because if you have only ever played on steam there is no associated email for the game and as such the login attempts.
And provided your email is secure you should not need to worry. That being said you could email support. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

As a person going through this right now and whose email has 2 factor authentication, I have to disagree with lagwin1980. Just having secure email doesn't stop jerks from spamming pathofexile.com (and by proxy me) with reset requests.
I signed up via Steam years ago. Steam has Steam Guard (2 factor). I only use Steam to log in and I'm still getting reset requests. Even worse, when I do contact technical support via email, I get this: I'm sorry to hear that someone else has been activating a password reset for your account. The good news is that, if they are doing this, they do not know your account password. My suggestion would be to double/triple check the security of your associated email address first and ensure you have a strong and unique password. If you have not performed a password change for that email account in some time, I would suggest that as well. 2-factor authentication on your email address will also increase the security of the account, and decrease the likelihood of someone being able to get access to the account without permission. Yeah, um. That doesn't help Why even have two ways to log in? It's like having an open window next to a steel security door. If you sign up via Steam, you log in via Steam. If you sign up through the site, you log in with email/password. tl;dr: Having 2 ways to log in makes you half as secure, not twice. |
