Infernal Blow Charges a little buggy

Hi there!

After some in-depth testing, I have discovered the following inconsistency which I believe to be a bug:

If your infernal blow charged debuff expires on an enemy, exploding, and you hit that enemy too quickly after the explosion and then keep hitting it, it will not explode again.

To elaborate here are several step-by-step scenarios, I have replicated each many times over the last hour of testing:

Control Scenario:
1. Hit enemy with infernal blow
2. Wait for charged debuff to expire, exploding
3. Hit again after a small delay
4. Wait again for charged debuff to expire
5. Enemy explodes again

Scenario 1:
1. Hit enemy with infernal blow
2. Wait for charged debuff to expire, exploding
3. Hit immediately as charged debuff explodes
4. Wait again for charged debuff to expire
5. Nothing happens, no explosion

Scenario 2:
1. Hit enemy with infernal blow
2. Wait for charged debuff to expire, exploding
3. Hit immediately as charged debuff explodes
4. Keep hitting without any gaps longer than the charged debuff duration
5. Enemy dies without exploding

Scenario 3:
1. Hit enemy with infernal blow
2. Wait for charged debuff to expire, exploding
3. Hit immediately as charged debuff explodes
4. Wait again for charged debuff to expire (i.e wait at least the length of the debuff duration)
5. Nothing happens, no explosion
6. Hit enemy with infernal blow again
7. Enemy once again gets debuffed and explodes (either when you kill it or
when the charged debuff expires)

From this testing, it seems that if you hit too soon, as the debuff is expiring, it applies a 'ghost' charged debuff which refreshes with each new infernal blow hit within the normal duration of the charged debuff. This 'ghost' stops an actual charged debuff from applying so the enemy won't explode unless you let the 'ghost' debuff expire and start again.

Just as an update, I recorded video evidence of this bug.

It can be a little awkward to replicate but there are examples that demonstrate all the scenarios I listed in the initial post if you watch all the way through.
Apologies for the lightheartedness of my commentary and the sound glitches.

Also, of the listed scenarios I find number 2 to be the most troubling. I could accept that my latency means there is some overlap on the servers end that stops the new debuff applying for the first hit but the fact that successive hits then are prevented from applying any sort of debuff (unless you wait for this 'ghost' debuff to expire), be it charged or explosion on death, is troubling and evidence of unintended behavior.

Thanks for posting this. I just want to add that this issue results in a noticeable loss of single target damage for the skill.

Thanks for the report, we'll be investigating this issue.
@Doombug5000 How did you notice that? In a single target boss fight?

btw congrats.

btw #2 GGG should give real good bug reports like this one a forum support badge; a monocle.

You know how, when your accuracy is low, you get this incredibly frustrating feeling where you expect to hear that nice 'thud' sound of a hit and it just doesn't happen? I basically kept getting that feeling, even with Resolute Technique; I realised pretty quickly what was happening from there. Also, I saw one of Woolfio's videos on infernal blow and he seemed unsure of how the skill functioned and the wiki was clearly incomplete/wrong. This made me curious so I posted in the 'mechanical questions' thread but quickly realised I could work it all out with some simple tests.

Anyway, that lead to me messing with the skill in different configurations with a new character and I posted all the results of my testing in the thread. Page 519 I think (if you are curious).
