So is the problem, for those with one, that the GGG took investment from anyone or that they are specifically Chinese?
I would be a whole lot more upset if it was EA, Sony, or blizzard.
Its about a company who tries to make social scores mainstreamable. I think this will have an Impact and Tencent will even skyrocket more once things like that, is able to be exportet into other countries.

The Social Credit System (社会信用体系 shèhuì xìnyòng tǐxì) is a proposed Chinese government initiative for developing a national reputation system.[1][2][3] It has been reported to be intended to assign a "social credit" rating to every citizen based on government data regarding their economic and social status.[4][3][5][6][7] It works as a mass surveillance tool and uses big data analysis technology.[8] In addition, it is also meant to rate businesses operating on the Chinese market.[9]
Tencent and one or 2 other companies work very tight together Chinese Gov.
They want to implement those kind of things on all sorts of Apps including games.
The biggest concern I have is, that "what is wrong and what is right".
They are the ones, diciding what is good and what is wrong and not your understanding of ethics and morals.
I appreciate the information because I hadnt heard anything about this. Obviously, I know nothing about this and need to dig in more, but part of me just says... who cares? I am on older gamer and definitely dont care what my gaming socail rank is. If you really dont want this to work... dont validate the ranking system. Its obtuse and dumb (based on the paragraph above) and if no one cares about it... it will have no real impact. I am probably just too old to understand why this is such a big deal.

Very interesting. Only time will tell...
Guess they don't need our support now as far as supporter packs. I'm running out of space anyways.

It's hard to drum into peoples' heads that 80% of profit is not 80% of total income, otherwise Chris would need to go around his neighborhood with a begging bowl looking for donations.
Huh? What are you talking about?
Tencent owns 80% ownership in GGG - which means they have the rights to 80% of the earnings distributed to common shareholders. Not only that, but they will consolidate GGG's financial statements into their own from a reporting perspective.
Tencent OWNS GGG now, for all intensive purposes. Yes, Chris and Co. can operate independently, and likely have some autonomy in decision making. But they are NO LONGER the big cheese, and in the end, what Tencent wants they have the power to get.

Edit: Of course, it depends how their BoD is being structured.
Edit 2: Keep in mind that, the shareholders VOTE for BoD personnel. And with 80% ownership... well... whomever Tencent wants on the BoD will eventually exist.

GGG has continually proven they are working hard to make a better game based on the feedback of the community WHICH HAS BEEN THE REASON FOR THEIR SUCCESS.
So, is that why the most of the core playerbase stopped and less people putting money in the game? Why do you think there is an inane amount of microtransctions being on sale lately? Try to see relation.

At the end of the day all I see are a bunch of kiddies who know absolutely jack about investing, Tencent, or how the process works in regards to Tencent's ownership based on other multinational games. But can you blame them? Most of the people here haven't invested in anything outside of food. Let the kids cry.
the problem here is that they sold 80% of the company
another problem is that GGG lost it's indie dev studio appeal and a lot of people will stop supporting them thanks to this.
you understand that mr. supersmart investing genious?

Relax guys, relax.
You know everyone works for his own self and cares for his own good and everything else is secondary. You should do the same, as the future of this game is questionable at best, I'd suggest investing less time and money for PoE. Maybe hold on to your wallet for a while to see where things are headed, look into other games or even better other hobbies. There are many other things to do and spend time on if PoE turns out to really decline. Let's not get too attached.
Sure, it is heartbreaking if you have spent a lot of money and thousands of hours in this game. I know how hard it is nowadays to find a half-decent game, let alone a great game like PoE. But all good things has to come to an end, unfortunately sooner than later most of the time.
If PoE continues to be a good game, great, no problem. If not, let's just create the option of easily moving on...

I think you are making a bunch of assumptions that might be true, but might not be:
The players you think are CORE arent the actual target audience. If you mean the people spending a lot of money on the game are the core players, I would actually argue that they are valuable customer but are an incredible minority in both overall population and share of sales.
Second, your assumption that lots of MTX sales are a sign of losing the "core" players, I cant imagine that to be true. These core already have most of the mtx and there is no reason for duplication. This is an acquisition strategy that is CREATING the next generation of core players. Also it is an incredibly lucrative method because these items no longer have a cost associated with them as they are digital and the development cost was long paid for.

Ah i can understand how that could be misunderstood , it's not gaming social rank , its the social rank of the Whole of the chinese People, which decides if they get a loan , a job , an education or even let in to certain Places. Black Mirror did an episode a few years ago before this was a thing, i think the episode is called nosedive.
