Does anyone actually use Chaos Golem?

Out of the choices, it seems Chaos Golem is the weakest. The benefits it provides don't scale anywhere near as high as the other golems.

I could be wrong; maybe I'm not using it in a suitable build. What do you guys think? Could it use some love?

golems are all specialists, and as specialists they really shouldn't be compared to each other. Chaos golems are not my first choice either. Mitigation of physical damage isn't nearly as important as elemental... and is available in other forms like Fortify or Endurance charges. I'd take the stone golem's regen over the mitigation from the Chaos Golem.

The problem with your "some love" is that you have to take into account all the other forms of physical mitigation at the same time. You can't let the extremes be too powerful. If you let people get upwards to 99% mitigation, you might as well just create immunity. A typical Jugger is almost there already.

Ive started using it on my necromancer as i needed some mitigation and dont really need anything the other golems give me, damage is stupidly high already so used the golem for a bit of extra damage mitigation
I used them as 'chaos bombs" in pvp once, just because I was bored. When all minions could spread Caustic Cloud on death.
just summon them really fast (yay echo), they crumble on re-summon, create a crazy strong chaos cloud (30k+ life). most people died instantly and unexpectedly (hard to see clouds as they zoomzoom around map)
rawr. fear me.
What are golems?
If you are stacking high phys mitigation it can be good. There's usually a better choice though. The trouble is make the bonus too high and it becomes bis for everyone. I wonder if it could give some chaos res on top of the phys mit, though. Seems like it would have more flavour and a bit more incentive to use.
TBF phys immunity is really not that overpowered considering that a lot of the hardest encounters are elemental damage i.e. elder, shaper, atziri.

On the other hand, elemental immunity would be pretty broken, this is why they nerfed flasks like div distillate and such.

Also phys immunity does not protect you for DOTs like bleed, also degens from chaos/caustic cloud.

I'm speaking on behalf of myself having made many chars with insane armour/block. They might trivialize the majority of normal monsters/encounters, but elemental damage still takes a giant dump on you because there is almost no way to reduce elemental damage to the levels that phys mitigation has.
4% Phys mitigation is like 1 endurance charge, which is an investment of at least 2 skillpoints.
If you´re not Juggernaut, who gets all kinds of perks for having Endurance charges,
you´re still most likely getting the 0.2% life regeneration per Endurance Charge node.
I´m saying that because the 4% phys mitigation from the golem alone is not the same as
4% and 0,2% life regen.

To be honest, the golem by itself is not gonna do anything.
If you are not investing in Endurance Charges, 4% physical mitigation is not tempting enough.
Stone Golems Life regen should provide a better defensive bonus for most builds.

If you´re however investing in Endurance charges, you´re already thinking: "Well I have phys mitigation, I don´t need the 4%."

That´s why Chaos Golem is in an awkward spot I suppose. They should give him 15% Chaos resistance
on top of his usual perk. I never understood why the Chaos Golem has that name and looks like the one golem boss that does chaos rain, but then it doesn´t give chaos related stats.

Stone GOlem should have life regen and the 4% phys mitigation,
and chaos golem should have chaos resistance and some other minor buff.
Ofc it shouldn´t be too good.

i very much agree that thematically it seems odd that chaos golem gives phys mitigation and not chaos theme related stuff, damage over time, chaos res that sort of thing

^ - this

As a necro I'm not super awesome in the armor department, so a chaos golem stacks nicely with the physical mitigation I can get from zommies. It's a dangerous world out there - use protection!
