Spirit Beasts only capturable by the first net thrown on them?

I tested this with a friend and both times only the first person who threw the net got the beast added to their menagerie. The second time, both of us fully completed the net throwing animation at least 2 seconds before it was captured, and only the first person who threw the net got the beast (even though the portal was in the other player's menagerie).

Is it intentional that they can only be caught once, or is this a bug?

We have the same problem.
The necromancy net was reduced but can't catch bestiary.

Pretty sure it is intended, otherwise you would multiply the spirit beast rewards.

For example, 6 players run maps - each of them get the spirit beast and recipe unlocked.
Now each of those 6 player's can open a portal for everyone.

If everyone could snatch that beast at the end, they would get out 36 times the reward (e.g. Avian Skill craft) from one spirit beast capture in a map.
I agree it's probably intended, but this behavior should be indicated somewhere in the game, or at least acknowledged somewhere by GGG that Spirit Beasts are only caught by the first net thrown.
