Is it possible to defeat Breachlords outside their domain?

As an SSF player I can't output the DPS necessary to do it, but what would happen if you killed a breachlord in a breach in an ordinary map? Can they drop the same items?

You can't kill them in a normal breach. If you get rid of all their life, they portal away and drop ten splinters. They can't drop other items.
