Act 10 Avarius/Defiled Cathedral mechanics

When the dude summons those red beams that go around and apply some kind of massive DoT. Besides "don't get hit lol" and "instalog before they kill you lol", what's the counterplay to that?

Not getting hit is the intended counterplay. You should be able to dodge them 100% of the time.
That said, they also shouldn't kill you instantly. Maybe your life is a bit low? Have you done something awesome with [url=http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Sire_of_Shards]Sire of Shards[/url]? PM me and tell me all about it!
