Ancient Orbs and Fishing Rods

Hi,

a few days ago I tried to use an ancient orb on a Reefbane to get a second



once Harbinger League ends, but a error was displayed, something like "Item ID does not fit base item" or similar. I don't recall it and the sots i bought afterwards was a birthday present for a friend anyways. But still, what is the reason for that?

Also I don't recall a thread about a new fishing item being discovered since 3.0 release.

You need to keep us posted, GGG. Still no one knows how to fish and only one guy I believe I know of knows the recipe on how to use Albino Rhoa Feathers.

Any comment by GGG why Ancient Orb couldn't be used on Reefbane? Looked like a bug.

Thanks, but it seems like a bug, since both are uniques and the Ancient Orbs have been introduced with the Harbinger League. So I'd wished a comment on that from GGG. If it has to do with SOTS being special (and I chanced mine way back before Reefbane was added), then okay, but other than that this looks like a bug.

I would really like to get a response from GGG if it is intended to be like this (cause of SOTS being special) or a bug.

Since there are only 2 unique fishing rods, and one is significantly more valuable than the other, it stands to reason that an Ancient orb turning a Reefbane into a SOTS would be a bit... too easy? I imagine it is intended. If there were more unique fishing rods, then sure, make ancient orbs work. But as it stands, being able to deterministically guarantee that you would turn a Reefbane into a SOTS, well that would be shitty for owners of SOTS.

Yes, i know that, being a owner of a SOTS myself. But the error message you receive when trying to use it looks more like a bug than intended.

You would at least expect a message similar to "You're not allowed to share fishing secrets" than the technical form, that the base item does not fit. Why does it not fit? It is a unique, and there is another unique available. Hope this clarifies. I am totally fine with it not working, though would've loved if I would've known that before or if the message at least indicates something related to a real reason. As it is now the message does not make sense.

GGG won't come to tell you why it doesn't work, just like they didn't explain why you can't use essences on fishing rods. You can stop waiting. Why it doesn't work is only a speculation, whether it's just a joke, or SotS is counted as an item with specific drop conditions like Atziri items (although I read it can be chanced).

Yes, it can be, cause I chanced mine. That's why this feels like a bug and why I made this post ^^

Then I guess the best you can do is to post a bug report in the Bugs section, and GGG either fix it or not, depending on whether they consider it a bug. (:
