Saved password questions ( hack ? )

Hello,

1) Does having to retape your password means that you have been connecting to your account with another IP ?

2) After making a trade with someone and have been joined by a friend of him, i guess; i got disconnected reconnected, then disconnected again and could not connect, i closed path of exile , reeopened it and SURPRISE : --Your Password is wrong...-- i retaped it and got connected !
Do you think someone connected to my account in order to steal me ?

Hi Gaboriau!

Sorry i was not clear enough, When i got " Your Password is wrong message.." that was my stored password ! But something curious is when i retyped it, it works again !

I thought that may me a hack system because of this patch note : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/180183, second note says : - Saved login details now only work if you're connecting from the same IP you saved them on.

So.. :o

I'm not sure if I completely understand your situation, but let me try to clarify my understanding of how the new system works.

The first time you log in after the 0.10.1d patch you will be prompted to enter your password again because it was cleared due to the way they are now saving passwords.

After you connect the first time, you can choose to save your password. No problem.

If your IP address changes, or if someone else attempts to log into your account, your password will still say it is saved, but if you attempt to log into the game, it will say that you must re-enter your password. That is fine. If someone else from a different city tried to connect, you will get prompted with an Unlock code (which will be sent through email).

In your case, what it sounds like happened is this:

You were playing PoE and had to re-enter your password from the initial 0.10.1d patch. You signed in and played and went to trade. During that trade, your internet was disconnected and you were given a new IP address. When you went to log in again, it said you must enter the password again because the IP address changed. But since you only changed IP address within the same city, you were NOT prompted to enter an Unlock code.

Does this make sense?
The way you describe it, it doesn't sound like your account was compromised. Your password was still the same. I believe my stored password was gone when I started PoE after this patch. I suppose you clicked 'login' on auto pilot, then saw the message that logging in didn't work.

If you are worried that your password might be compromised, scan your computer with antivirus software, then change the password of your PoE account and your email (two different passwords). If you are not worried, then I think it is safe to keep your current password. In the end it is your responsibility to keep your account safe, so it is your choice what to do.
Don't read my signature!
Thank you.

Well i already played before ( and it was after the d-patch ), i am not sure what kind of message i got, when i try to search in my memory.. i would say the password square ( where you tape your password ) was empty, i don't know if my memory is to be trusted though.
I remember well the message i got yesterday, it was containing those words : "... wrong.. password.."

How could i get a different IP after a disconnection ? Do you mean the disconnection might have been happening on my rooter box internet ? OR are you saying that PoE client gave me a new IP address after the disconnection ? I could not get your point here!
A few disconnections happened to me in the past, but i actually did not have to retape my password.

--SUMURAI8--

I'd think that someone connected and saw that i have nothing interesting ( level 42 character here )
He might have been connecting with an artficial IP located in my city, so no unlock account happened ? ( i don't think so, but i wonder )
So he might log again to my account after a few months when i reach a high level and steal what he wants maybe.
I Already have a Paid Antivitus :)

Question please : How much players can connect to 1 account ? does different IPs of these players change anything ?

Most likely, you were disconnected from your Internet Service Provider and when you reconnected to them (which is usually automatic) you were assigned a different IP Address. You won't get a new IP address EVERY time you reconnect, but it is not uncommon to have it happen once in a while.

I think only 1 person can connect to an account at a time. If more than 1 person connects, the other person would probably become disconnected. I do not know for sure though.
