There is a difference between cookie cutter builds, viable builds and simply bad builds. Just because you've got a bad build and are disappointed from it doesn't mean the game requires you to play a cookie cutter.
There are a lot of unusual but fun builds out there which are still viable in end game content just because you didn't manage to play one so far doesn't mean they don't exist.
