How does 0 currency sink affect temp leagues?

There are 0 currency sinks atm in temp leagues imo. Reason why i exclude Zana is because breach is lvl 8 and 99+% of people will never come to that point in temp league to enyoy breach mod.
With the removal of CI noone is crafting regalias, hubris and titanium shields. Huge majority play life and there is 0 need to craft life gear, it is so easy to buy it cheap at poe trade. One of the biggest offset for 0 currency sink is shit league that we got, garbinger, where GGG gives 0 reward to the playerbase. We get shards of lowest quality orbs. Why were Legacy and Breach leagues fun, even Perandus? Because they were challeging and rewarding. That is winning combination. Garbinger is fail in every possible way. 0 Challenge and 0 reward. My point is, if you want your game to be succesfull you NEED to CHALLENGE your players and REWARD them. In order to meet those requirements you NEED to have as many currency sinks as possible. Last few leagues we had 1 currency sink in form of crafting fun ES gear and now that this is gone there is no way you will be able to retain your players for any decent amount of time. Unfortunately the new currency sink has simply become spending chaos on the two thirds of the builds in the entire game nerfed to steaming piles of excrement in the 3.0 deployment, to simply get them back to a stage where with god tier gear, they can at least clear T8 maps.
The other issue is that since everything has been nerfed to garbage across the board and life builds have terrible DPS, there's no top tier items to even spend chaos on any more, as no one can farm (let alone complete) the end game content. Which is made all that much worse by the fact that virtually no one can even level their masters to L8 so they can mastercraft top-tier gear either. |

@OP: Life gear is not that cheap anymore. When everyone wants something, prices go up.
I am not saying it is worth crafting it, but things are certainly different than last league when it comes to prices of good life gear. @Adambjjoz: Never used that phrase before, but maybe you should git gud. Saying that life based builds have no dps is showing a terrible lack of understanding how the basic game mechanics work... Anyone with a basic knowledge on how the game works can still farm Guardians or Shaper comfortably. |

" That's simply not true. Even if you only play at weekends Zana LVL 8 is absolutely reachable. Even faster if you have a guild or friends who map.. Only if you play SSF then yea, this can be hard if you rarely play. Path of Exile is a game for Hardcore gamers. Of coure you can go play sth. easier like D3 or sth. which is also suitable for kids. " I don't think you have ever leveled zana to 8. Cause amount of Zana missions you need to do to level her to 8 is huge. Playing only for weekends and yea, you might level it to 8 in 6 months. Maybe. Also, PoE WAS game for hardcore players. Not anymore. |

" Shards as rewards are 0 currency, but they are only sympthom cause since there is no currency sink whatsoever, GGG is afraid to give players orbs. Just another lazy ass way of doing things ggg way. If there were currency sinks in the game and players actually have options to spent their orbs then ggg would be able to allow garbingers to actually drop orbs and not pure shit. League would still be shit, but still...... |

i always liked to create my own items via chaos orb spam or random alching slots where i needed upgrades and it paid off many times big time , thats been in the game forever - if you choose to buy things instead of rolling the slotmachine yourself - it may appear like there is no sink - but i do agree this league is quite dissapointing to say the least.
