GT 1030 and performance

Hi guys!
I am currently using a skylake HD 530 integrated graphics on my PC and experiencing horrid lag and fps drops. I am considering puting an extra DDR4 memory to increase fps but i am not sure if it will work as intended. Would a GT 1030 GPU solve my problem? Any experience to share with this card and high lvl maps/laggy builds? POE is the only game i play, i don't need a strong GPU.

Thnak you.

Add a bit of extra $ and get a GTX 1050 or 1050 TI to run the game in 1080p full-details.
It's not such a big difference investment-wise and the performance gap is quite big.

I'm playing it on 900p resolution, fps varies from 1 to 100 in the city, with shadows off and everything low...
Is it a big deal to put an extra 4GB 2133mhz just for poe too?
It's not just the frequency. 128bit bandwidth vs 64. More Texture Mapping Units and same with Render Units. It's huge gap of performance for the price. In my opinion it's worth it 100% for the 20-30$. That's if you're talking about the GPU performance.

If you're talking about Dual Channel Ram it gives you around 20-30% performance but you will still get FPS drops on integrated GPU nomatter what. It simply doesn't have enough shaders and units to keep up with the high amount of particles.

thank you a lot. i see that in the US the price between gtx 1050 and gt 1030 is small, but in brazil, i found a gt 1030 for R$345 while the gtx 1050 is R$500.

path of exile is the only game i need a vga for, i've been looking for an actual gameplay footage with that spec but couldn't find anything.
So i am comparing the GT 1030 with another vga i can find running POE on youtube. The RX 460 can decently run the game on 1080p, maxed settings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNY_XnjrCMA

and then, comparing the vgas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA_Kn7rbW50
I guess on 900p gt 1030, poe will run with 80~90fps maxed settings, is that correct?

I also noticed that my system stability is severely damaged when playing any game (LoL or POE), probably due to the single/dual channel issue.
Assuming that a dual channel will not prevent any fps dropping even on a 900p resolution i guess i'm going for the 1030 GT.

Yes you should be able to get a clean performance with 1030GT even if not on max settings but I'm quite sure it can do it on 1080p as well. The game is more CPU dependant rather than GPU.

After 3.0 is launched as we're also expected a performance update you should be more than fine with 1030GT even on single channel. For example I'm using a GTX 1050 with single channel ram 8GB and rarely notice any fps dips.

[ I started having fps problems with last patches that were fixed and then popped up again ] but they're not GPU or RAM related. Something wrong with the game for the moment so I'm waiting for the hotfix.

Yeah i've searched exhaustively and found exactly what you're saying. I made my decision to get a 1030. Maybe i'll buy another 4GB DDR4 corsair on nov/dec for those 8GB total Ram.

Thank you a lot for the time dedicated to answer, dude!! POE is my preferred game, as a D1/D2 player from back in the day it could not be different. Looking forward for the next expansion!!

As for final results and possibly help other ppl out, i'll post my experience when i have the vga installed and tested.

Did you bought the GT 1030?
What was your experience?
yes I did, it runs well on a 1600x900 monitor, 8GB ram and G4500, 60 Fps, with some rare random drops to 45 fps when playing with big parties
