Tired of spamming Skills? Go for Trollbuild xD

When I found a Tempest Shield gem, I had the idea for a nice funbuild. Since my Duelist (level 63) wasn't specced in 0.9.6 I took him for this little experiment.
I wanted to make the whole character around Tempest Shield...since it is a "cast" it scales with Spell Damage, so probably a templar would be more appropriate, but on the other hand I had to go through a big part of the tree to collect all the block-nodes so it was still ok.

In the end my skilltree was like this


With a wand and a dex shield I got to 73% block with Tempest Shield activated and 71% damage reduction. The skillspeed isn't even as bad I thought. With a level 12 Tempest Shield (level req 47) supported with cold, chaos and lightning damage it deals 500-1000 damage per block. In act 2 merciless the mobs die in an ok speed I'd say. In Chaos I can survive (although there are some strange big damage spikes) but its boring as hell.

One problem are the caster I could only find one node that gives me a chance to block casts, but it looks like is multicatively so I block 12% of 73% ~ 8%, absolutely can't kill casters with it and my wand has a lousy damage too, so I only can run by the casters.

I'm currently going for full lightning templar with power charges (will get other charges too), dagger/shield, lightning strike and tempest shield. Now at 35 level and works quite well.

I love inventive builds such as this one - a wee bit out of the box. Keep up the creativity. :)

In PvP that should be useless, as long as there is "pure" (no specials like CTF-Maps or stuff like that) PvP...you can just ignore him and be fine...and he turns into the forever alone guy :D

Well I meant duels, the supreme discipline of PvP. ;)

I was going to make this build today with very few modifications to it, thanks for the tree. Are you using Elemental Weakness or a different hex?

Very cool. I figured stacking damage supports on tempest shield would work pretty well. I'm surprised you have enough life to survive in chaos though without only life regen passives since blocking isn't normalized like evasion (as far as I know). You must have a lot on your gear?
