Are staffs with +2 to fire gems and +1 to gems still viable for SRS builds?

I've looked up on google and reddit but couldn't find any recent info on that (most recent ones from 2015-2016) but i've read that Summon Raging Spirit doesn't benefit so much from +x to gem level as it used to. Is it still true? I'm playing on ssf and my goal now is to craft a good staff to play with a srs summoner so I just want to know if I'm wasting my time trying to craft it or not.

it still does benefit from +3 gem staffs and empower, however people now use United in Dreams for massive single target dps, still a +3 staff is a fine option.

Just looked up this unique and it is amazing!
Good to know a +3 staff is still viable, I'm going with a +2 staff 5-linked until i can get my hands on a united in dreams then thank you | |
