[2.6] Sweep/Sunder Hegemony's Era Berserker (Shaper down with video)

This is a build guide for a non double dipping, non elemental conversion physcial damage Berserker.

I adapted some ideas from an existing build guide that can be found below

Gorge - Vulnerability, Ele Weakness, Twin boss

Core - Ele Weakness, Minus Max, Added cold, Onslaught, Burning Ground
Core itself is already a super sketchy map for my laptop to run since it freezes and lags. Burning ground and recording software makes it so much worse.

Why I play the build
I was looking for something MANLY, something FAST and most importantly,
FUN
I've played numerous builds but this one gets me pumped while mapping. I feel like a true Berserker that leaps right into packs and obliterates them.
If you like in your face action builds, this is for you.

Ascendancy choice
Spoiler
Right now Berserker seems to be your best bet for a good balance of offence and defence. Leech being our best defence and without Aspect of Carnage, Hegemony's Era with Abyssus might not be enough DPS for the end game bosses.

Slayer used to be a very viable choice too but with the current state of AoE, I feel like it isnt that worth it. Slayer however, is a very good budget option for the build.

Gear & Links
Spoiler

Weapon
Spoiler

Pretty straightforward weapon. Your next upgrade would cost you enough to buy a house.
6L is pretty important for the build. If you can only afford a 5L I would recommend ditching Faster attacks and using Sunder as your main skill. Without good attack speed, Sweep can feel really bad and make dodging stuff a pain.

Chest
Spoiler

Here you can go for either a rare chest or a Kaom's heart. I wouldn't recommend Kaom's though because we're already socket starved. Overall a pretty flexible and cheap slot to fill. You'll only need 6 sockets and a 4 link. Btw I have Vaal Lightning Trap socketed with my AW in the 5L but during the Shaper fight, you can sub in Increased Critical Strikes since Shaper is immune to shock. Blood Rage is there for the extra attack speed, leech and frenzy charges to make the build feel super good. With the amount of life regeneration we have, even with Abyssus we barely notice Blood Rage's degen.

Helmet
Spoiler

Motherducking Abyssus.
Anyway be sure to get a maximum of 40% reduced physical damage taken and a minimum of 200% melee crit multi on this bad boy to make it feel worth it.
Pretty standard movement skill setup. Just be sure to use Leap Slam to proc Forify as much as you can.

Gloves
Spoiler

This is the most important piece for the build. Leech is our biggest form of defence so if you cannot afford these, I would highly recommend you swap to a Slayer instead.
Now, for the auras. A pretty standard physical aura set up. Arctic armour is there to help with the mitigation since you're gonna be standing still while Sweeping or Sundering anyway.

Boots
Spoiler

I cannot stress enough how awesomely overpowered these pair of boots are.
1. Stun immunity. Absolutely important for leech based builds.
2. Freeze/chill immunity. Saves us a flask slot.
3. Temp chains immunity. Saves us a Chaos.
4. Loads of HP
5. Corrupt Frenzy charge

Accessories
Spoiler

Keep a lookout for accuracy on at least 2 pieces of gear. It is imperative we have enough accuracy because of how critical strike chance works. Try to aim for no less than 87-88%.
Flat physical is pretty nice to have so if you can afford a pair of steel rings, go ahead. I must warn you though; due to the amount of uniques we have in the build, capping resists can be a real bitch.

Belt
Spoiler

High life, resists, rustic sash. I feel like Reduced flask charges used is a good affix to have.
You can however opt for another resist to lighten your load on capping them.

Flasks
Spoiler

Your main 3. Honestly, a legacy Taste of Hate is not required. I just picked it up since its about 4ex more than a standard one, and I had spare currency lying around. Same goes for Rumi's.

Last 2 slots are kinda flexible but I would strongly advice on having a bleed immune flask at least. I currently run a shock(life flask) and bleed(diamond).
Some of you might be wondering why I run a Diamond flask. With power charges I'm sitting on around 85% crit but we gain power charges by knocking enemies back (10%) or on block (10%). Against bosses that cannot be knocked back like Shaper, it becomes really difficult to sustain power charges through blocking alone. So with the help of Diamond flask, we crit more consistently, thus we are able to leech instantly.

Jewels
Spoiler

I prioritse attack speed with staves and life on all my jewels. More attack speed makes the build feel so much smoother and leveling a lot more bearable. For the suffix, you can get either Area damage, Melee damage, Crit multi or Increased damage.

Total cost
Spoiler
Hegemony's 6L 4ex
Belly of the Beast 40c
Abyssus 35c
Acuity 12ex
Kaom's roots +1 Frenzy 20c
Rings 1ex
Amulet 15c
Belt 20c
ToH 120c Legacy 5ex
Rumi's 5c Legacy 4ex
Lion's Roar 5c
Jewels 5-15c

Mapping
Spoiler
Mapping is generally pretty simple and safe with this build. I usually run a mix of Beyond,
Onslaught, Breach, Nemesis and Bloodlines leaguestones in a shore with 5 sextants. I do die occasionally to my own stupidity but even in crazy modded maps, its kinda rare.

Here are a few mods to watch out for
Spoiler
Physical Reflect - We deal too much damage and with Abyssus, it makes this mod impossible to run.
Elemental Weakness - Always bring a Bismuth flask
Minus Max - We have a lot of physical mitigation but not enough for elemental. Depending on the other mods, it can get real sketchy
Vulnerability, No regen - Try not to use Blood Rage in these maps. If you do, you either chain packs or remove Blood Rage from your socket if you're not killing anything. Remove HoA for no mana regen maps.
Cannot Leech - Do not run

Shaper and all Guardians videos up!
I like the build. Acuities are currently ~28 ex in legacy. Does berserker simply not work without the instant leech?
Yes, Acuities are mandatory. Slayer would be a good alternative if you're on a tighter budget, but the playstyle might be slightly different
yup i can attest to this i decided to try bezerker and dps was amazing but the leach without acuitys is awful so im doing slayer now with built in baby vp should be alot safer and its only 4 points different in the tree so thats always handy
Since Acuity is more expensive than it used to be, I'm trying out a ~6-8ex slayer build. Currently at lvl 90. I'll upload videos and write up the slayer guide once I hit about 91 or 93.
Hi. I have a marauder lvl 91 old char with 1 full passive reset and already have all gems 20/20 and hegemony. Ill try this build for fun and fast mapping. Do u think this can work if I take vitality void or another leech node to make up cause I dont have acuits?
No, Berserker wouldn't work without Acuity. I'd suggest Slayer as your next best alternative and it's much cheaper
