how does ES delay work?

now I just came up with a build that has 105% ES cooldown reduction.

now if this is like any other modifiers, it should probably mean that there will be no cooldown when your out of combat. thus every time your not attacked, you should be regenerating ES.

but from what im being told, it really just reduces it to 3 seconds instead of the default 6.

now does this mean im halving my ES. or is there a cap of 50% ES reduction?

cuz if there is a cap, that means im wasting points on the ES cooldown reduction nodes.

can anyone say what the answer is?

It's not Energy Shield cooldown Reduction, it's Energy Shield Cooldown Recovery [rate]. 100% means that it recovers twice as fast, or in half the time.

From the mechanics thread:

"
Energy Shield will recharge if you do not take any damage for a certain period of time. The default delay is 6 seconds. This time can be reduced with increased energy shield cooldown recovery modifiers from passive skills. The formula for the recharge delay is:
6 * (100 / (100 + increased recovery) )
so 100% increased recovery is halving the delay, not removing it entirely.
This is why that stat is explicitly described as an increase to the cooldown recovery, not as a reduction to the cooldown duration.

What would 200% Energy Shield Cooldown Recovery mean?
What would 673% Energy Shield Cooldown Recovery mean?

There's a formula like 2posts above, can't you even at least try to figure it out?
Yeah

I was stupid.

200% means a third of 6
600% means a seventh of 6
