Hey guys I need help !

So yeah I need help
I am very knew at this game and I am still learning.
For some reason this game keeps calling me. Maybe because its hard for new players like me and it makes it interesting or maybe because you can do so much different stuff if you actually know what you are doing.

Which I don't so to start I checked the forums for builds to help me get started.

I'm Lvl 45 at the moment, and as you can see I'm going for GroundSlam Marauder, Ascendency Berzerker.
For now I think I can clear quite well ( I'm on cruel ATM ) but I think I should upgrade my Mace by now and I don't know to what ( within a new player price range or that I can get after some grind and trading ). I also feel me defenses are quite low, since if I don't pay attention in a breach I will die quite easily, but the rest I think I can handle since I have some leech and the flash never go down because you are always killing. So my worries is that if I keep going like this, even if along the way I will manage some upgrades it wont be enough to continue and will struggle a lot or get to a point where I can't go any further.

Do you guys have any advice that could help or some tips?

gear:
max your resists and get +life on your stuff. get a goldrim if youre struggling, its a helm that adds 30-40 all resist.
your weapon can be upgraded pick something from here http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/List_of_unique_weapons and go to poe.trade and try get one they should be cheap. remember: not all skill gems work with all types of weapons (some skills only work with maces and maybe not swords so read the gem tooltip carefully)

get jewels with life and damage, since you seem like on a budget i suggest with something like this:

or if you really want to take a risk buy blue ones like this: http://poe.trade/search/iwausutarinoni and use a regal orb - if you get a life mod or something nice it might be worth something
