questions on blocking
|
So i noticed there are stats that say block recovery. what does this specifically mean? when you block a hit you get mini-stunned? and is that dependent on something? and how long is a normal "recovery"? just curious because i kinda want to use the new tempest shield spell... just want to know what i am getting into

If you block a hit, you take no damage from the hit. However, if that hit would stun you, you are still effectively stunned - but you play the blocking animation rather than the stun animation, for the duration of the stun. If the hit would not stun you, you play no blocking animation - this ensures blocking is never a bad thing for any hit. Base stun duration is 350ms, block recovery will decrease that duration for your blocks.

Is there any hidden mechanic to blocking?
Scaling with an attribute, penalty for blocking higher level monsters, cooldown on blocking, penalty while moving, etc |

I would also assume, from a tanking point of view, that the higher your block recovery rate the more hits you can block then since a initcial blocked hit wouldn't trigger the animation. Therefore a following hit can also be blocked again (350ms-block recovery time). That is indeed quite important for tanking btw.
Only confusing, how to calculate exactly what you need to block. There are lvl 26 shields with 180% block recovery existing...? And one more thing I'd be curious about, is there a chance to block for all damage, including spells and ranged attacks? |

" There doesn't seem to be a limit, if your life pool is not high enough, you can easily get stun/block locked and die. Block chance apply to all attacks (non-spell) no matter what type of damage it deal. Block is calculated after evade and dodge(i presume). There are passive and unique that grant block chance for spells. It would be effectively the same. Unavailable Unviable build tester.

hey guys, so what is the different between "Block Recover Increase" and "Block & Stun Recovery Increase" since according to mark block doesnt play any animation if the landed hit fail to stun you. Why I see 2 diff stats of block and block & stun on my character stats?
and 1 more question is, if I have more block recovery rate does it mean I have more chance to trigger the chance of block? More specifically is, if alot mob is hitting you, when u block the 1st mob's hit do you need to recover from the normal "black recovery" before you can block again? sorry for my bad english. That's a good question. I've never thought about it because my block build has unwavering stance.
I wanted to ask how the recovery gets factored in. Is 100% recovery halved stun/block animation? IGN: Iolar

100% increased recovery would be half, yes.

" I have been searching poewiki and several post about block but did not find the answer for my question. Is their any mechanic during the block animation? Assume that I got 100% block and no any recovery stat, so when I play the blocking animation, Can I block any each other attack during this 350ms animation? IGN: cowshut

You can block attacks during the blocking animation, and if the attack would stun you, it simply resets the blocking animation.
