need help on my SRS gem links

is this info from wiki right regrading SRS supporting gems in term of DPS increase??


In order of preference:

Spell Echo Support --- Spell Echo Support is still good for early levels, but not needed at the end game due to the new cap of 20 spirits.

Minion Damage Support

Melee Physical Damage Support

Empower Support --- Empower Support depending on level, but since it takes so long to level, it's probably the last one on your 6 link anyways, after level 3 it should be your top choice.

Added Fire Damage Support --- add Fire Damage Support for bosses,
Melee Splash Support --- Melee Splash Support for clearing.

Elemental Focus Support --- Elemental Focus Support for bosses,
Minion Speed Support --- Minion Speed Support for clearing.

Multistrike Support --- Multistrike Support is slightly weaker now for leveling/mapping since minions do more damage and there are fewer of them (Patch 2.5.0 reduced minion cap from 50 to 20).

Added Chaos Damage Support --- Added Chaos Damage Support less important now since the base damage per minion is higher (to make up for the minion cap being decreased to 20).





why not poison support on the list??

is my set-up of srs-multi-melee splash-minion splash-poison-added chaos better or worst than above set-up?

I would guess it's because Poison doesn't scale off of Fire Damage and half of the SRS Hit is Fire Damage.

I don't play SRS but I would assume it takes a LOT of minion damage to allow enough Poison double dip to make Poison support worthwhile

With no other multipliers, Poison Support level 20 grants 22.08% more DPS assuming all the base is Poisonable. Since only half of SRS is Poisonable it's basically 11.04% more DPS although of course Added Chaos Damage and the new Envy aura will distort this upward. Any DoT bonus that can apply to minions (usually just Minion Damage) will also scale this up.

Although if you're using the new Envy aura you don't need the gem anyways.

Poison was awesome with added chaos but all flat damage increases got reduced by 60%

I would suggest a 20/20 or 20/23 Culling Strike gem instead of the elemental focus/minion speed slot. Of course you should stack minion movement speed on your jewelry.

In my opinion it outperforms them. In addition to culling it adds a flat 40% increased damage, as well as 10/11 (depending on quality) attack speed for your minions and cast speed for you. That is a very well rounded package for clearing maps as well as killing bosses. I used it on my life based srs necro all the way to 100.
After hitting 100, I made a new srs necro which I intend to play CI using united in dream while still building a level 28 srs in a +2 corrupted skin of the loyal. I started out using minion speed, but as soon as I switched to culling strike, I noticed a nice bump in clearspeed.

Thx, good infos. what will be the best weapon I shall aim for end game? what stats are optimum in it? I am currently rolling 6-L Pledge of hands, but I know thats not the best weapon for end game.
For my life build, I went for a 6L +3 fire staff that has crafted cast speed, blood magic and reduced damage taken from damage over time on it. On a 18% block base these cost about 15 ex.

+3 fire gems
Dexterity
Resistances
Reduced dot taken

Thx again, I am still have no idea why we need +3 fire gem there? what is the benefit with +3? seems like it only boosts SRS gem in the 6L set-up. and also what is Blood magic and how it work why we need it in srs build?

Spells, even when they don't deal spell damage, tend to scale really well with level. The other support gems tend to be big multipliers that gain tiny boosts with gem level, while active spell gems tend to just gain medium multipliers with each gem level. So basically +3 gems doesn't need to apply to all gems in the link up and would actually be kind of super OP if it did, because you'd have a decent multiplier apply up to six times.

Also SRS levels are one of the few cost-effective ways to make them more durable I believe (haven't really played it myself).

Went this route since I felt this was the best pack clear for red maps (mostly tier 13 and above) and for map bosses, I usually switch out minion speed for minion/totem elemental resistance support since I get more elemental damage out of the gem (got buffed in 2.5) because of 50% part fire damage +




which saves from having to add Hatred to the build since I use Haste (level 22 thanks to Alpha's Howl) instead.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.
