Chaos Resistance Ring

The more I see chaos damage, the more I wish that there was a Chaos Resistance ring... for those characters that don't play in the Int tree or don't have the currency to roll extremely rare chaos resists every time they get a new piece of armor.

Make it a Recipe:

1 Onyx Amulet + 1 Ring + 1 Green Gem

I support the inclusion of amethyst rings*, but I want to point out that, like the item affix, it shouldn't be at the same strength as the elemental resistances.

Max chaos affix: 26-30% chaos resistance
Max elemental affix: 42-45% elemental resistance
Elemental ring range: 20-30% elemental resistance
Suggested amethyst ring range: 12-20% chaos resistance

Also, chaos resistance doesn't show up on gear until 15 levels after elemental resistance shows up on gear... so amethyst rings shouldn't show up earlier than level 25, more likely level 30 (same level as prismatic rings).

Keeping chaos resistance from showing up earlier, and having it show up at lower values, sends a message: chaos isn't an element, this is something different. I actually like that, and I wouldn't want to inclusion of amethyst rings to remove that feeling.

*There are already sapphire rings, sapphire flasks, and amethyst flasks, so the name of the chaos resistance ring is predetermined.

That's why I wanted to make it level 30. If it's level 25, that's five levels where a ring drop has a 1/8 chance of dropping amethyst, assuming all available ring types drop equally. At level 30, prismatic gets tossed in, so it never breaks 1/9 chance.

I completely agree with your level choice for when it can drop. I just think since its an "always on" item instead of an activated like a flask it should be rarer to find than the flask.

I'm not against this, but not for it either. I found to my surprise that chaos res was less important than I thought. Mostly, this helps non-CI ES users.

Well, it would be nice if you could get it before the Waterfall Caves in act 1.

I like the name Amethyst Ring better anyway (hadn't seen an Amethyst Flask so didn't know that was what it was)

It would just be really nice to help with all the viper striking, degenerating aura enemies.
