incarcerator - how this is possible?

i usually can do maps up to lvl 70-71 alone without even risk to die, but just now happened a very strange thing.
i was in a crap lvl 66 map. arrived to the boss (incarcerator) i started shooting. he grabbed me, hitted me etc etc, like always. i never went down more than half hp. at one point i had full life, full energy shield and i was very far from him, in 1 nanosecond i died. i didnt see any hit, i didnt see any grab, i didnt lag. i just died in 1 hit, dunno where it came from. some1 can explain this?
i got 80 all res, 3.9k hp, 30% damage reduction.

A form of desync would be my guess. This happened to me several times as well. Now I always skip the boss in dungeon maps. Too risky.

If it was a desync he wouldn't die in one shot.

If it had been desync he would have noticed ES/health dropping for no apparent reason.

exatly. i forgot one thing: i have around 150 es too, and i didnt see es dropping. just health to 0 and resurrect screen, in 1 nanosecond. maybe i desynched, but still remain that i died istant in 1 hit... i dont think with my stat this is possible, or i am wrong? and anyway i was like 1 and half screen away from the boss so dunno.

Those numbers would die to him in 2 melee hits. I know this because i had better numbers and he smashed me in about half a second.

Yeah the combined HP+ES would not be enough for a crit so oneshotting is possible.

Maybe it was a combination of desync and the boss getting a particularly hard hitting crit?

Brutus boss is known to desync pretty badly. He also has the chance to crit. He could have possibly desynced, and crit you, which caused a 1 shot.

actually i did it so many times, and with his grab + a crit my life went around 10-20%, but never 1 shotted me.... with his grab my life drop of 20%, + his crit lets say another 50-60 %... anyway maybe i jsut got a very huge crit for the first time. ty all for ur answers guys :)

If his chain does 20%, a crit from shockwave will do WAY WAY WAYWAYWAY more than 50-60% of your hp. His chain hits me for 1-1.25k, give or take, and his shockwave (with 2500ish HP and 33-34% mitigation via armor) oneshots me, without critting. So shockwave is -at least- double the damage of chain, and that's if the shockwave BARELY kills me. We can extrapolate from that; when he crits with Shockwave, he's gonna do at least double that amount of damage, so minimum 4-5x what the chain does. Said crit will easily oneshot you, if a non-crit oneshots me.

You desynced, he walked up, and he Shockwaved your face in. =(
