Righteous Fire Build vs Blade Vortex build

Hi,

Been exploring BV build (e.g. Marauder BOB) and also RF build (e.g. Yolani's Witch; Guardian variety).

On both, you basically run in and everything dies. In that respect, both very similar.

BV is life-leech based and with low health pool. Higher aoe radius. Far, far cheaper to build (no shave, empower 3, enlighten 3, etc).
RF is low-life ES, massive ES pool (14k+), numerous auras, very tanky with loads of armour. Expensive.

My main question is has anyone payed two builds like this, and if so pros/cons of each?

Other question - and no idea how to calculate this - which has more DPS? Is it close or not?

For context, I'm playing soft core.


Really would like some input on this - can't decide which to head for!!

Blade Vortex should be better in every single way, including being more tanky.

I don't know Marauder Bob's build, but I do know you probably should be playing BV as a Pathfinder. Yalani's RF build is solid, keep in mind his gear is outstanding and very expensive.

In 2.4 the only thing I can see rf being better than bv for is reflect but vaal pact+leech mostly deals with that anyway (phys-to-lightning as needed). Or I guess if all damage in the game suddenly became fire.

On the other hand, one nice thing about rf is it can be used for additional dps to another skill. Like, say bv ;)

You hardly find somebody that played both of these specific builds, as there are many ways how to play with each skill. And any skill can be good or suck depending how the character is built, including class, gear, gem choices, etc.

If you really have to copy someones build, the most important part is choosing one you will be able to do with your resources. Or one that can be downgraded with cheaper gear and still work fine.

14k ES on low life with loads of armour does not sound much affordable.

BV is very boring (matter of opinion ofc), will be nerfed in 6 weeks and most of the sheeple play it so the gear for it tends to be expensive. Still much cheaper than that RF so if you are not swimming in currency and really want to do one of them, choose BV.

I prefer building around things that are not popular at the moment, as the gearing is cheaper and it is most likely not gonna be nerfed.

why not do the best of both worlds? righteous fire bv!

rf build is better because:
- inexpensive mana and no need mana reg.
- no need to take secs for cast blades arround you, rf never stop doing maps more fast.
- rf build no need 6l chest/weapon.
- rf build its easy to get high dps for clean fast maps, blade vortex need very nice gear and do lowers maps.
- rf build take more point for life/armour because blade vortex need some more point to take: skill effect duration and critical+physical damage and max mana.

this! i only like rf as a "support" gem. did it with ed. ll/rf essence drain was pretty funny
