Game won't start

So I've been trying to play the game since 30 minutes after launch and have had no luck. Every time I click the play game button in steam the popup would show saying starting path of exile, then it would disappear and the game title on the left side would say running beside it for a few seconds, then "syncing" would flash beside it and that's it. I tried verifying the game, uninstalling and reinstalling it, restarting steam, and restarting my computer all with no luck. Then I took the time and downloaded the standalone client. Same issue pretty much. Every time I double click the icon the popup comes up, downloads about 14mb, then closes and no game shows up. I've updated all my drivers and tried turning off my firewall and running it with no luck. If there's anything else anyone can suggest I would greatly appreciate it. I've already emailed support a few hours after launch and have still gotten no response from them which is strange because usually their replies are almost instant. Thanks!
