SRS + Totems = which class to use?
It may be a bad idea (or not) but I'd like to try, for the sake of it, to build Ancestral Bond SRS build. As I *never* played a minion based build, I'm completly at a lost here. I see the Witch has some great ascendancies that could help it, but in another way the spirits themselves don't have to last super long (I guess) as long as they hit hard and fast.
I also look at the Templar ascendencies, and I'm perplexed, as it says "totem damage", but the totem itself doesn't do any damage, its the spirits OF that totem that do damage, so how does that count? Also Ancestral Bond says I can't deal any other damage skill, but summoning other types of minions would still work, right? Anyone in here can tell me what I should aim for and the best class/ascendancies would be? Thanks. :) Last bumped on Jun 17, 2016, 9:23:49 AM

" Yeah, Hierophant would be a good choice, you're getting extra totems at no penalty because your minions aren't dealing 'totem damage'. Ancestral bond would also have no drawback, you cant' deal damage but your minions can. So, you could have 4 SRS totems out and still summon them yourself. The catch is there isn't much point to the whole thing, it's fairly easy to hit the 50 spirit cap by one totem and selfcasting, so building an auramancer or something to give them more dps would end up stronger. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I am pretty sure the 50 limit cap is per totem so lots of totems would provide lots of SRS along with your self cast options of SRS, curses, etc.

An auramancer is a mage that wields auras. In this case raics may have been making a pun on aura necromancer? Anyway, any decent summoner should have multiple offensive auras to empower all of their minions at once.
Also, I'm sorry, but the Less Damage from Spell Totem is really not going to be a happy thing. Spell Totems outshine self-cast when you're doing things like triggering elemental equilibrium or casting righteous fire with a Chieftain. The less damage is not less spell damage or less totem damage; your spell totems that summon minions will not only be using a support link for those minions but will also make them do less damage. The result is that you will never exceed the damage of an SRS self-cast 4-link (with a 6-link). " ... no? You still own anything your spell totem spawns. So in the end there's nothing really flambloyant about playing such a build after all. I love the mechanic of Ancestral Bond, as I have "less to do" and move around while totems do all the job. In this case it wouldn't optimal at all, and would have to cast all sorts of things.

" Yeah, the counters are per gem but they still respect the global limit, got a Null build with three separate counters and I can assure you from experience the total doesn't go over 50, just find a Null build on youtube. I suppose you can also see it on Blade Vortex builds. You should go check out LiftingNerdBro's stream if he's on whenever you're about. He's currently playing SRS totems and it looks like its going pretty well.
