Sound goes into buzzz and then back to normal - Asus Xonar D1
Hello,
i seem to have also problems with the new sound engine, but the desciption of others does not fully fit my problem. I have Asus Xonar D1 sound card with latest unofficial drives 1.80a from http://maxedtech.com/asus-xonar-unified-drivers/ as there are no stable drivers for Windows 8.1 64bit In certain situations my sound goes into static noise. Usually it lasts around 1 second and then it comes back up. I noticed that it is most frequent in A1 or maps with dwellers/shield crabs, sea witches and water elementals. Also, with Blade Vortex. Yesterday in zana maps with guy using Vaal Cyclone and sea witches+beyond mod i whirled into a pack having 30 stacks of Blade Vortex on me, game literaly froze for 5 seconds then i somehow managed to lag out 2 screens aways getting back to stable Fps. Game crashed after zoning out of the map. Seems like the overlapping sound effects are still an issue or it is connected to different problem with loading assets. Is there a way how to turn off technically types of sound loading like with the -nosound lauching command? It almost seems like all the sounds are always ON and processing/playing, just the volume is set to 0. Having an option to turn off spell effect sounds and hit effects of mobs would be appreciated. Are you using the Front Panel audio jacks/connectors on your computer case? If yes, don't. Use the connectors on the back of the computer case (The connectors provided by your motherboard) instead.
Alternatively you can try muting Line In, Microphone and other analog inputs in your volume settings. It sounds like you're experiencing signal noise, hence the above 2 suggestions. The audio jacks provided by a computer case are typically poorly shielded from the USB connectors nearby, the audio cable connecting those front computer case jacks to the motherboard also run by lots of other hardware and may pick up intermittent signal noise from those devices. You can also try moving the sound card to a PCI-E slot further away from the video card as well.
