Crashing in The Riverways

So I've been playing the game for a while recently. Lots of fun. During my playthrough of the first act I haven't encountered any problems at all, except for some framerate drops with a lot of enemies on the screen, but I guess that's normal. However, as soon as I entered the second act and entered the riverways, the game started crashing. A lot. All the time. Sometimes it even shuts down the entire computer. How can I fix this? I tried the -swa method and it didn't help. If I read the error message correctly, it has something to do with applying the lightning effect.

I recommend running a Pack Check first to see if it can find any problems with the game files. If you're using the standalone client, the details on how to do this can be found here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/18531 If you're using Steam to launch Path of Exile, you can do this by verifying the integrity of your game cache instead. Haha, I don't know how why, but this method worked, thanks a lot! ^^ No more crashes in the riverways, and the game seems to work more smoothly, too.
