depends if you want to self cast bladefall or not.

death's hand is amazing for cast on crit builds with bladefall, EK and optional glacial cascade. you can easily get maxed crit (95%) as assassin on an attack and even all spells with coc death's hand. and no, the damage from a dagger will not overcome death's hand.
my coc build with death's hand has almost triple the damage from spells per proc than other common vagan sceptre coc builds. you don't exactly NEED that much damage, but its there.
better yet couple that with legacy consuming dark so your chaos damage poisons, and a pyre ring with hatred buff and taste of hate flask, and now you do so much chaos damage which also poisons your typical DPS vs a regular vagan dagger or scepter is probably 5x as much.

in any case, daggers can be just as good as wands in the spell category, except for BASE CRIT. wands can get much higher base crit than daggers can.

its pretty easy to craft a spell dagger. once blade vortex came out i crafted all kinds of them. i think i have like 15 sitting in my stash, varying in power. this is the best one i was able to self craft


bladefall trap is usually utilized with poison, because its the poison damage that also scales with aoe damage (conc effect) and trap damage, since its applied by a trap.
so essentially bladefall, trap, conc effect, trap and mine damage, poison, whatever else

Who's talking about CoC builds lol. Ofc Death's hand will give more dmg than Vagan weapons which typically give next to no damage unless you're prepared to spend lots of exalts. Even so, 'almost triple the damage' is an overstatement or, if true, it isn't just because of the weapon. The guy is asking about a normal caster build and you wrote half a page about cast on crit to just confuse him further.

We're talking about regular hardcast builds and I've compared weapons there more than enough. Death's Hand is kinda OK as a low-mid budget solution, nothing more.
