New:
Tabula Rasa with +1 to Socketed Gems and lv. 21 EK

0 frenzy charges vs. 5 frenzy charges vs. Phys to Lightning
Clearing

Single Target

(forgot to screenshot lv. 22 EK single target)

Summary / TL;DR

Use EK linked to FC, Added Fire, Controlled Destruction, Spell Echo, and Fork in a Tabula Rasa.
Equip 2 Essence Worms to allow Hatred and Grace to be used. Clarity helps with mana regen. Use Herald of Ash gives you extra damage, or Arctic Armour for additional defense.
Fork doubles the number of projectiles when they hit an enemy. If those forked projectiles hit, it will then chain, auto-aiming the next target.

Concept

-Use Roth's Reach for its free chain
-Use Fork to double the number of knives
-Fork + Chain can shotgun
-Use 2 Essence Worm rings to make 2 50% auras reserve no mana

How It Works

1. the EK projectile will fork when it hits an enemy
2. if the forked projectile hits, it will chain and seek its next target

Because of this, enemies at the center of a pack can get multiple times in a single cast.
In some cases, you can kill a rare mob in a single cast, making this very effective in clearing.

Helmet: life, resists, [evasion]

Gloves: life, resists, [evasion]

Belt: life, resists, [reduced flask charges used], [increased flask charges gained]

Quiver: life, resists, [projectile speed]

Amulet: life, resists, mana regeneration

Jewel: life, projectile dmg, spell dmg, physical damage, [resists]

Pros

-relatively cheap (as of 3/10/16)
-30k+ DPS at 5 frenzy charges (lv. 19 EK)
-5k+ life
-high evasion with dodge and spell dodge
-able to run reduced/no mana map mods by replacing Fork with mana leech
-offensive and defensive end-game gear options
-beginner friendly
-may be Atziri viable (haven't tried)
-physical reflect maps viable, see below++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
-not graphically extensive / didn't burn my potato computer
-a single EK projectile can potentially hit 5 enemies (1 from the initial projectile, 2 from the forked projectile, and another 2 from the forked projectile chaining if they both hit)
-single target makes you more defensive (see below)
-because of the sheer amount of projectile speed you can gain, you can offscreen packs, making this build safer (not that you need it at 50% chance to evade and ~50% chance to dodge spells and attacks)

Cons

-getting maximum elemental resistances may be tricky
-mana issues earlier (you can switch Fork out with Mana Leech)
-you may need Int on jewels to help out with gear or gem requirements
-end game gear is much more expensive (but not necessary)
-single target makes you weapon swap (slightly annoying)
-the forked projectiles have to hit another enemy before it can chain (no problem if you aim at the middle of a pack)

Links

Main Skill
EK - faster casting - added fire - controlled destruction - spell echo - fork
(lv. 3 Empower might be worth replacing faster casting, if using Tabula Rasa)

Auras
Hatred, Clarity, Grace, Herald of Ash / Arctic Armour

Movement
Blink arrow - faster attack, or
Flame Dash - faster casting, or
Lightning Warp - less duration

Utility
Blood Rage - Stone Golem - [Minion Life] | [Minion Resistances]
Gives you plenty of frenzy charges while clearing. Stone Golem and your life regen should be enough to counteract BR's degen. Minion Life/Resistances is not required but makes your golem both a tank and a decoy.

Curse Application
Frenzy - Curse on Hit - Greater Multiple Projectile - [Preferred Curse]
-this is your main way of gaining frenzy charges in boss fights. Since you have to refresh your frenzy charges,
you will also apply your curse

Oneshot Prevention
Cast when Damage Taken - immortal call - increased duration
-this will stop you from dying when you take a lot of physical damage in less than a second

Leveling

Essentially, I started picking up x% increased maximum life whenever possible since EK already does plenty of damage.

Sniper helps a lot (30% proj. dmg, 10% proj. speed), and Nullification gives you max. life and resists early on.

Coldhearted Calculations for the mana regen, Written in Blood cluster for the max. life, Force Shaper cluster for huge damage boost, and Acrobatics/Phase Acrobatics for the dodge and spell dodge (if you have high armor, you can take this at a later time).

Herbalism is an obvious choice. You have 3 options at this time: get mana, get defence, or get damage. You can also take the passives as needed.
Mana: Druidic Rites and Primal Spirit if you are lacking in mana, mana regen, or Int (I did, haha).
Defence: the Evasion and Life cluster to the left of Finesse gives 17% life and 44% evasion.
Damage: Ballistic Mastery gives you 15% proj. dmg and speed. You also pick up some great passives on the way.

Head to the Duelist area; pick up Bravery, Fury Bolts, and Mana Flows (if necessary). Head up towards the Scion area and pick up the jewel socket, and Profane Chemisty (for more life and survivability).

At 95 points, you are pretty much build complete. 189% increased max life, plenty of damage nodes, and even more evasion. The rest of the points is up to you.
Here are some notable cluster to get you started:
-Golem's Blood and the Armour, Evasion, and Life cluster near the Duelist start will give you with a total of 221% increase max. life.
-Frenzy charges are all within reach if you want more damage and cast speed.
-2 jewel sockets are also within reach; one next to Golem's Blood and another next to the frenzy charge above Herbalism.

Dealing With Physical Reflect

Physical reflect maps are usually a problem with EK builds.
With this build, you can replace your quiver with Blackgleam and replace Fork with Physical to Lightning.

Blackgleam converts 50% of EK's physical damage to fire, while Physical to Lightning converts the other 50% to lightning (and you also gain a portion of your physical damage as lightning).

Single Target

Single target isn't really required, it just makes you kill a lone rare mob or map boss.
Weapon swapping can be annoying, but I think it works well in this build.

You can buy a decent spell damage weapon as well as a spell damage shield (Rathpith works well here).
If you know that the boss will be by itself or surrounded just by a few mob, you can switch out Fork for Physical to Lightning. Other than that, you can leave out gem swapping and just weapon swap.

I've tested it using a Heartbreaker and reached 39k DPS with no frenzy charges.

You can get 80%+ spell damage on weapons, and 60%+ spell damage on ES shield. You may be able to get 50k+ DPS for single target. The shield is pretty much a quiver without the proj. speed so look for a shield that will have similar resists as your quiver.

End Game Gear

The only gear you need to change for endgame is the body armor. I feel that the body armor have to be 6L. Using 5L will make you lose clearing speed.
The fact that Tabula has all white sockets allow you to swap Fork (a green gem) with Physical to Lightning (a blue gem). By using one of the end-game body armors, you lose that ability, instead resorting to swapping gems of the same color.

You have 5 options:
Queen of the Forest
-gives you a lot of evasion
-lots of evasion == a lot of movement speed
-the defensive Jade Flask becomes both a defensive and a utility item
-more life
-good luck trying to get the correct colors on the sockets (I've spent at least 500 chromatics on mine)

Daresso's Defiance
-gives evasion
-adds a 6% chance to dodge attacks, bringing the total to 51%
-gain endurance charges on kill
-endurance charges gained can be consumed by Immortal Call, allowing you more time for physical damage invulnerability (I might be wrong here)
-onslaught gives you more DPS
-more life
-easier to get the correct socket colors

Lightning Coil
-gives physical damage mitigation
-doesn't give much evasion
-you need to get more lightning resistance to compensate for the -lightning res
-more life
-easiest to get the correct socket colors out of all the end-game body armors

Hyrri's Ire
-gives a lot of evasion
-gives 10% more dodge and spell dodge (55/61)
-no additional life
-the same as Queen of the Forest when it comes to socket colors

Tabula Rasa +1 to socketed gems
-decent boost to DPS
-cheaper than the other BiS chests by a long shot
-chromatics are not needed to get the right socket colors
-you can still swap different colored gems with each other
-no additional defence
-no additional health

Gear

Single target weapon swap:

Spoiler

Bandits: Oak - Kill all - Kraitlyn

Ascendancy

Weave the Arcane - to help with the mana issue a bit
Ghost Dance - for the dodge and spell dodge
Shade Form - extra evasion and chance to evade is good, as well as cast speed on recharge

Notes:
-using Rigwald's Quills can free up a socket
-shotgun rares and map bosses by making them go inside a pack of mobs
-buying a lv 20 EK when you hit lv 70 will give you a boost in DPS (Usually costs less than 25c, especially corrupted ones)
-20% EK is not needed since the bow and quiver can give you up to 71% projectile speed(30% from bow, max 41% from quiver)
-you can choose not to use evasion and dodge; you can go from Coordination down to Ballistic Mastery, pick up Vaal Pact, and get Iron Reflex

Honestly I think waste use this bow with ek, for one reason: the buff on the pierce gem now is very strong. And with the buff in Pierce cluster in passive tree is now perfect for EK. 100% chance to pierce and more damage. Chain is less damage. I dont see motivation to use chain or fork more with EK, with decent projectile speed (pick 20% ranger, 19% ek level 20 and 20% quality EK) you can clear white and blue packs easily.

I'm testing this tree + assassin on my character on the standard league and is very good.

A variation of the same non critical using trickster can be this, see how is very good and also allows use 8 frenzy charges and 40% increased projectile speed on the tree + 100% pierce (with gem link).
Guides made by me:
Unnamed's CoC CI Discharge Trickster, Tankster BV MoM Poison, Saboquisitor MoM Pure Cold damage with Hrimburn, Trickster Critical Flameblast

Hey Carrasco, I think Roth's Reach is worth using. The chain mod on it isn't like the chain gem where it has a less modifier. It is a free mod that allows you to pretty much shotgun.

As for getting the projectile speed, I am at 129% right now and can get 149% at 20% EK. It feels pretty good to offscreen packs, haha.

Thank you for the reply. Your build is pretty cool :)

PS: how do you deal with physical reflect? I think that's where most EK builds have trouble with.
Last edited by Dire_ on Mar 11, 2016, 4:35:10 AM
I found a way to deal with physical reflect map mods. Added a reflect section to the guide.
In my case I'm playing standard, then I'm not too worried, but reflect map is inviable and unique mobs I must be very careful. My spell dodge + granite + AA or new flasks (still not tested) should help.

I created a new character in HC perandus with this build there and I'm playing, let's see how far I can go without dying. :P

Awesome! Let me know what leveling path you take. I don't remember which nodes I went for first.

As far as gems go, I don't think I started with fork right away because you suffer from not having enough mana. But I think you can replace spell echo for mana leech at earlier levels (assuming you use Tabula right away).

Minor nitpick: The forked projectiles don't autoaim the next target. They may or may not hit something before they expire. If they hit they start chaining with autotargeting.

Ah, right. Good call. Will change that note.
