how do i work out how much a rare/magic/unique is worth? or if its worth anything at all

- check poe.trade rares - item ned multiple high mods and it is hard to estimate it value for new players, check poe.trade for similar items - put price on it you want for that item,later if it do not sell: lower price. white/blue - good loot filter will highlight good ones, they are used mostly for vendor recipes "Is there such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? just do what most others do: if it has high tier mods just post it on poe.trade for around 10 exalts and accuse anybody wanting to haggle of lowballing until you find someone willing to pay those 10 exalts. if you find nobody for 2 weeks, lower your price and repeat.

in case i have to mention it: i wasn't serious. there are no trade rules, just think of what you would have paid for some items and what mods on items you would like to have. it's mostly life/energy shield, attack/spell damage/speed and elemental resists. the most important factor for a piece of gear is to know what mods still can be rolled on that item. which is (intentionally made so by devs) quite complicated.
