Time travelling to assassinate hitler

Hypothetical question to test your morality:

So lets say you can travel back to the 1930's. And do as you might you can only reduce the chance of ww2 to a 10% chance of occurring unless... you also assassinate hitler dropping that chance to under 1%. Would you kill someone who has not done anything wrong to reduce the chance of major war by ~9%.

Nope, too many great things in the past I'd be more interested in seeing if I had the opportunity to time travel. :)

I think that question should be supplemented with "if you were absolutely sure that killing hitler wouldn't put someone even worse in his place".

We live and learn and hopefully grow stronger through our mistakes,our past makes us who we are today and what we do present day will determine who we are in the future.

If you're uncomfortable killing a person who is innocent at the time, you could try curling up your hair, donning a kippa and finding young Adolf painting in a park. "Fantastic!" you would cry, catching his attention as you peer over his shoulder. "I would be a meshuggah if I didn't buy this!" You would then hand him a more than acceptable amount of German marks and say, "You know, young man, you really have a talent for this. You ought to pursue a career in art over everything else. What is your name? Could you sign this for me?"

When you return to the modern day, if you haven't prevented the war, at least you have an original Hitler you can make a killing off.

Makes far more sense that "time travel" would just be you jumping to an alternate universe and any action you take would be you taking a "diffrent fork" in the road that is the future of the world and it having no effect on the dimension you came from.

So yeah...go apeshit and kill hittler.

An alternate dimension in time would already have alternate possibilities.You'd merely be doing the same kind of damage to that dimensions future as you would your own,while doing nothing to or for your own present and future.

Altering the past seems like a venture that would do more harm than good whatever angle I look at it.

I don't even like travelling to the next state, never mind going back in time to a different country that I can't speak the language.

Do you think a young Adolf would still go through with his plans for racial purity if he knew the outcome? Hindsight is 20/20 after all.

The way i think of this is...

if you travelled back in time to kill hitler... and potentially save the jews from extermination, then what if one of those jews that died if you didnt assassinate hitler... became a "hitler" in the sense where they become a political tyrant and kill millions?
